Skieters slaan in Cafda toe

MISDAADTONEEL: Cafda Village, Kaapstad. – Een persoon is na bewering raak geskiet tydens ‘n voorval in Cafda Village, Retreat  Donderdagmiddag, 26 Februarie 2026.

Die skietery het blykbaar voor ‘n winkel in Peter Charles-straat plaasgevind. Volgens berigte is daar vanuit ‘n wit Opel Corsa gevuur. Drie mans is vroeër gesien waar hulle in die Opel rondry.

Hierdie is ‘n ontwikkelende storie.

Drive-by shooting scare

CRIME SCENE: Cafda Village, Cape Town. – There have been reports of a shooting in Cafda Village, Retreat on Thursday afternoon, 26 February 2026.

The shooting apparently occurred in front of a shop in Peter Charles Street. According to reports the shots were fired from a white Opel Corsa. Three men were earlier spotted driving around in the car.

Early indications are that one person was hit.

This is a developing story.


Leerder in taxi doodgeskiet

Tragedie by skool

MISDAADTONEEL: Atlantis, Kaapstad. – ’n Graad 8-leerder en ’n taxibestuurder is Woensdagmiddag, 25 Februarie buite die Atlantis Sekondêre Skool doodgeskiet.

Die leerder was 14 jaar oud en die taxibestuurder 42.

Twee ander leerders is gewond en hospitaal toe geneem. Een van hulle is sedertdien uit die hospitaal ontslaan en die ander is stabiel. Die taxi was besig om leerders van die skool af huis toe te vervoer toe gewapende mans toeslaan.

In ‘n brief wat aan die ouers en voogde van Atlantis Sekondêre Skool gerig is, het die skoolhoof, mev. MJ Adonis, gesê dit is ‘n sensitiewe tyd vir almal wat aan die skool en die gemeenskap verbonde is.

Adonis het bevestig ‘n graad 8-meisie is dood, maar het mense gevra om nie te spekuleer nie. Sy het gesê die voorval is nie bendeverwant nie.

Die tragiese dood van die twee by die skool volg minder as 24-uur nadat twee mans by die Witsand-taxistaanplek, ook in Atlantis, doodgeskiet is. Hierdie voorval het op Dinsdag 24 Februarie 2026 om ongeveer 18:00 plaasgevind.

Girl and taxi driver fatally shot

Tragedy strikes school

CRIME SCENE: Atlantis, Cape Town. – A Grade 8 learner and a taxi driver were shot and killed outside the Atlantis Secondary School on Wednesday afternoon, 25 February.

The learner is 14 -year-old and the taxi driver 42.

Two other learners were reportedly wounded and taken to hospital. One of them has reportedly since been discharged from hospital and the other is stable. The taxi was transporting learners home from school when the gunmen struck.

In a letter addressed to the parents and guardians of Atlantis Secondary School, the principal, Mrs MJ Adonis, said it was a sensitive time for everyone connected to the school and the community.

Adonis confirmed a Grade 8 girl had died but asked people not to speculate. She said the incident was not gang related.

The tragic death of the two at the school follows less than 24 hours after two men were shot and killed at the Witsand taxi rank, also in Atlantis. This incident occurred on Tuesday 24 February 2026 at approximately 6pm.

UPDATE: Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says the City will offer a reward of up to R100 000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for ongoing violent taxi-related killings in Atlantis.

The community has been hit by a spate of violent incidents which are clearly related to disputes within the taxi industry.

‘We stand with the peace-loving residents of Atlantis who should not have to suffer because of the internal fights between taxi bosses. We mourn deeply together with the families of the victims, including the 14-year-old Grade 8 learner tragically gunned down on 25 February 2026.

‘I have offered the assistance of the City’s Safety and Security Investigations Unit to support the investigation into the horrific shooting in Atlantis yesterday. Action must be taken against those responsible for this shooting,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith.

Volgens berigte is twee mense ook gewond in dieselfde voorval, wat vroegaand op Dinsdag 24 Februarie 2026 plaasgevind het.

Die slagoffers is voor ‘n shack geskiet volgens verlsae vanaf dioe toneel. Speurders van die Wes-Kaapse eenheid vir ernstige geweldsmisdade is op soek na die moordenaars wat van die toneel gevlug.

Maandag se voorval volg kort op die hakke van die moord op drie mense op Saterdag, 23 Februarie 2026 in die Joe Slovo informele nedersetting, ook in Milnerton. Die drie is ook geskiet.

MISDAADTONEL: Marikana, Kaapstad. – Die verdagte wat gearresteer is vir die massaskietery in Marikana waarin nege mense op 17 Januarie 2026 dood is, sal volgende maand weer in die hof verskyn.

Nkcubeko Libala (21) is in die vroeë oggendure van Vrydag, 20 Februarie 2026, by sy woning in Lower Crossroads, Philippi, deur speurders van die eenheid vir ernstige geweldsmisdade gearresteer.

Hy het Maandag, 23 Februarie 2026 in die Mitchells Plain-landdroshof verskyn waar die saak tot 2 Maart 2026 vir verdere ondersoek uitgestel is.

Die beskuldigde bly in aanhouding terwyl speurders op soek is na nog verdagtes.


Marikana 'shooter' appears in court

Manhunt for killers

CRIME SCENE: Milnerton, Cape Town. – Detectives from the Western Cape Serious Violent Crimes Unit are hunting for the killers of two men and a woman who were shot and killed at the Ekuphumleni informal settlement in Du Noon, Milnerton in the early hours of Monday morning, 23 February 2026

According to the police reports from the scene indicate that the victims were shot in front of a shack. The gunmen fled the scene.

Monday’s incident follows the murder of three people on Saturday, 23 February 2026 in the Joe Slovo informal settlement, also in Milnerton. The three had been shot.

CRIME SCENE: Marikana, Cape Town.  –­­­­ The suspect who was arrested for the mass shooting in Marikana in which nine people died on 17 January 2026 will be back in court next month.

Nkcubeko Libala (21) was arrested by Serious and Violent Crime Unit detectives in the early hours of Friday, 20 February 2026, at his residence in Lower Crossroads, Philippi.

He appeared in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 23 February 2026 where the case was postponed to 2 March 2026 for further investigation.

The accused remains in custody while detectives are in pursuit of more suspects.

Volgens die woordvoerder van die Muizenberg-gemeenskapspolisiëringsforum, Wayne Turner, was lede van die Muizenberg-misdaadvoorkomingseenheid omstreeks 01:00 op Maandag 22 Februarie 2026 besig met patrollies in toe hulle ’n verdagte man in Doringweg oplet.

Die polisie het die verdagte genader en deursoek en ‘n Star-vuurwapen met geen reeksnommer en 13 rondtes 9 mm-ammunisie in sy besit gevind.

Die bevelvoerder van die Muizenberg-polisie, lt.kol. Nokwanda Harmans, het sy lede se  proaktiewe pogings geloof en gese hulle sal voortgaan om onvermoeid te werk om die veiligheid en sekuriteit van die Muizenberg-polisiëringsgebied te verseker.

Die verdagte, ‘n inwoner van Capricorn, is in hegtenis geneem en sal in die Muizenberg-landdroshof verskyn.”

Die GPF het in sy verklaring gesê die Muizenberg-polisie bly verbind tot patrollies en sigbare polisiëring wat daarop gemik is om onwettige vuurwapens uit gemeenskappe te verwyder en die veiligheid van alle inwoners te verseker.

Suspect arrested for illegal gun and ammo

A MAN was arrested in Capricorn near Lavender Hill for unlawful possession of a firearm and mmunition.

According to a statement issued by the media liaison officer of the Muizenberg Community Policing Forum, Wayne Turner, members of the Muizenberg Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) were conducting routine patrols in the Capricorn at about 1am on Monday, 22 February 2026 when they approached a suspicious man Doring Road.

Upon searching the suspect, the members discovered a Star firearm with no serial number and 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition in his possession.

The Muizenberg-police station commander, Lt Colonel Nokwanda Harmans, commended the vigilance and proactive efforts of the police “who continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of the Muizenberg policing precinct.

The suspect, a resident of Capricorn, was arrested for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. He is expected to appear in the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court once formally charged.”

The CPF said in its statement the Muizenberg police remain committed to ongoing patrols and visible policing aimed at removing illegal firearms from communities and ensuring the safety of all residents.
