Police bolster presence after night of killings
11 die in shooting sprees
CRIME SCENE: Cape Town: The South African Police Service (SAPS) have bolstered police visibility in a number of areas following shooting incidents in which 11 people were killed.

Provincial Serious Violent Crimes Unit detectives are investigating the three incidents which happened in Langa, Gugulethu and Khayelitsha.
The carnage started on Saturday, 8 August 2026 at approximately 22:45 in Langa where four men and a woman were shot and killed in Winnie Mandela Street, KwaLanga.
A few minutes later at about 22:50 three men aged 25, 31 and 35-years were shot dead in the TR Section, Lingelethu West in Khayelitsha..
Then on Sunday morning, 9 August 2026 at about 4:10 two men and a woman were shot dead in the Barcelona informal settlement in Gugulethu. Two other were wounded in the same incident.
Western Cape police have reinforced deployments in the affected areas as well as other potential hotspots.
