Woman nabbed for illegal guns
CRIME SCENE: Bishop Lavis, Cape Town: A woman has been arrested after police found two illegal firearms and ammunition in a house here.
Members of Operation Lockdown 3 followed up information about firearms at a premises in Reenberg Street, Bishop Lavis, on Sunday night, 30 August 2026.
According to the police they searched the premises and found a 9mm pistol without a serial number with ammunition, and a .45 revolver hidden in the house. A 41-year-old woma was arrested for the possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of an unlicensed firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
In Simon’s Berg Street, the members searched a premises where they found 18 Mandrax tablets and arrested a 32-year-old male for the possession of drugs, said the police.
Bonteheuwel: The members searched another premises in Assegaai Street, Bonteheuwel, and found 130 Mandrax tablets, 57 small packets containing Tik and 20 heroin straws in the house. They arrested a 31-year-old man for the possession of drugs.

Volgens die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) is die 49-jarige verdagte tydens ‘n intelligensie-gedrewe operasie in die vroeë oggendure van Maandag 31 Augustus 2026 deur die Provinsiale Anti-Bende-Eenheid en Misdaadintelligensie gearresteer.
Die polisie het ‘n lasbrief vir ‘n woning in Klipgat verkry en tydens die deursoeking het hulle drie vuurwapens teruggevind, insluitend ‘n silwer 9mm-pistool sonder ‘n reeksnommer en twee blank-vuurwapens, waarvan een na bewering aangepas is om lewendige ammunisie af te vuur.
“’n Totaal van 115 9mm-rondtes, drie leë 9mm-magasyne, drie 9mm-patroomn doppies, 40 blank rondtes en ‘n holster is ook gekonfiskeer.
“Verder is agt skootrekenaars, drie selfone en ‘n Motorola-hand radio teruggevind. Een van die skootrekenaars het ‘n regerings-plakker opgehad. Daar is ook op ongeveer 21 kilogram koperkabel, sowel as twee SAPS-pette, ‘n paar , ‘n SAPS-sakboekie en ‘n SAPS-kenteken, beslag gelê,” het die polisie gesê.
Man arrested for possession of stolen items
Police items, illegal arms seized
CRIME SCENE: Klipgat, North-West: A man has been arrested for allegedly being in possession of a number of stolen items, including police and government-issue items and firearms.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) the 49-year-old suspect was arrested during an intelligence-driven operation in the early hours of Monday, 31 August 2026 by the Provincial Anti-Gang-Unit and Crime Intelligence Overt Operations.
The police obtained a search warrant for a residence in Klipgat and while executing the search, they recovered three firearms, including a silver 9mm pistol without serial numbers and two blank firearms, one of which was allegedly modified to fire live ammunition.
“A total of 115 live 9mm rounds, three empty 9mm magazines, three empty 9mm cartridges, 40 blank rounds and a pistol holster were also seized.
“Furthermore eight laptops, three cellphones and a Motorola hand-held radio were recovered. One of the laptops bore a government department sticker. Police also seized approximately 21 kilograms of copper cable as well as two SAPS caps, a pair of police socks, a SAPS pocketbook and a SAPS badge,” the police.
