Undocumented foreigner arrested in Vrygrond
Man busted for outdated medicine
CRIME SCENE: Vrygrond, Cape Town: A 22-year-old man has been arrested for possession of prescribed medication and being undocumented in the country.

According to a police media liaison officer for the Western Cape, Captain FC Van Wyk, members attached to Operation Prosper were doing patrols in Vrygrond on Thursday, 18 June 2026 at about 19:00 when they received information about the unauthorised sale medication at a premises in Berg Street.
“They went to the shop and noticed the medication displayed on the shelves. It was also found that the medication had expired dates, some dating back to 2025. An assortment of medication was confiscated and handed in at Muizenberg SAPS as exhibits.
“On further investigation it was discovered that the suspect had no legal documentation to be in South Africa.
“He was arrested and will appear in Wynberg Magistrates court in due course on charges that relate to the contravention of the Medicines and Related Substances Act as well as immigration laws,” said Van Wyk.
