Munisipale top bestuur agter tralies
MISDAADTONEEL: Suid-Kaap: Die Taakspan vir Politieke Moorde (PKTT) het ’n burgemeester, munisipale bestuurder en hoof- finansiële beampte van ’n munisipaliteit gearresteer in verband met beweerde korrupsie rakende ’n sekuriteitsdienskontrak.

Volgens die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) het hulle ontvang oor bewerings dat daar van ’n sakeman, aan wie ’n sekuriteitsdienskontrak toegeken is, kickbacks geëis is in ruil vir die voortsetting van die kontrak.
“Daar word beweer dat die sakeman reeds honderde duisende rande betaal het uit vrees dat sy kontrak beëindig sou word,” het die SAPD gesê.
Al drie staan tereg op aanklagte van korrupsie en moet op Maandag, 5 Oktober 2026, in die hof verskyn.

Municipal top brass arrested
CRIME SCENE: Southern Cape, Western Cape: The Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) have arrested a Mayor, a Municipal Manager and a Chief Financial Officer of a municipality in connection with alleged corruption relating to a security services contract.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) the arrests follow information received by the police regarding allegations that a businessman who had been awarded a security services contract was being solicited for kickbacks in exchange for the continuation of the contract.
“It is alleged that the businessman had already paid hundreds of thousands of rands out of fear that his security services contract would be terminated,” said SAPS.
All three face charges of corruption and are due in court on Monday, 05 October 2026.

CRIME SCENE: Mitchells Plain, Cape Town: A man has been murdered and his firearm stolen while sitting inside his truck in Beacon Valley.

A media liaison officer for the Western Cape police, Captain FC Van Wyk, said the fatal shooting incident occurred on Thursday,1 October 2026 at about 11:10 in front of a premises in Trampoline Street.
“According to reports the 43-year-old victim was sitting inside a white Hyundai Truck when two unidentified men pulled him out of the vehicle. He tried to reach for his firearm when one of the suspects took out a firearm.
“The suspect started to shoot at the victim, fatally wounding him. They took the deceased firearm and ran away towards Hengelaar road, also in Beacon Valley.
“The motive is believed to be robbery,” said van Wyk.

JEFFREYS BAYS: The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Jeffreys Bay is appealing to the public for urgent assistance in identifying what is believed to be the cremation remains of a deceased person.

According to SAPS a vigilant member of the public discovered a mini coffin containing a bag of ashes on the Jeffreys Bay beachfront on 17 September 2026.
“Notably, the name Llewelyn Felix is inscribed on the mini coffin. The items have been taken into safekeeping by local police while investigations are underway to trace the family or determine the origin of the remains.
“We request anyone who may have information that could assist in identifying the remains, or who might know how the mini coffin came to be left on the beachfront, to contact the Jeffreys Bay police immediately,” said SAPS.

MISDAADTONEEL: Namakwa-distrik, Noord-Kaap: Die stryd teen dwelms hier het vandeesweek sukses gebring met verskeie arrestasies.

Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) sê sy pogings om onwettige dwelmhandel- en misbruik te bekamp, is verskerp deur volgehoue misdaadvoorkomingsoperasies en stop-en-deursoek-aksies.
Maandag, 28 September 2026, ongeveer 21:00, was lede van die Delta- en Alpha-pelotons besig met misdaadvoorkoming-pligte in Voortrekker-straat, Springbok toe hulle ‘n 52-jarige man van Durban gestop en deursoek het.
“Die lede het pille gevind wat vermoedelik heroïen bevat, met ‘n geskatte straatwaarde van R1 250. Die verdagte is onmiddellik vir die besit van dwelms gearrester.
“Dinsdag, 29 September 2026, om ongeveer 15:00, het SAPD-lede wat stop-en-deursoek-operasies in Nababeep uitgevoer het, ‘n 41-jarige man gearresteer nadat hy na bewering in besit van dwelms gevind is.
“Dieselfde aand om 22:10 is ‘n man in Okiep vir die besit van dwelms gearresteer. Kort daarna is ‘n tweede verdagte, ‘n 33-jarige man, ook vir die besit van dwelms gearresteer,” het die SAPD gesê.
Die Distrikskommissaris van Namakwa, brigadier Schalk Andrews, het die lede geprys vir hul volgehoue waaksaamheid en toewyding om onwettige dwelmhandel te ontwrig.
Die SAPD doen verder ‘n beroep op gemeenskappe om nou met die polisie saam te werk deur dwelmhandel, smokkelary en ander kriminele aktiwiteite aan te meld.

MISDAADTONEEL: Mitchells Plain, Kaapstad: Drie mense is doodgeskiet en een is gewond in nóg ‘n bloedbad in Kaapstad.

Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) in die Wes-Kaap het nou ‘n soektog van stapel gestuur na vier verdagtes wat betrokke was by die skietvoorval in Lentegeur, Mitchells Plain, laat Woensdagaand, 30 September 2026.
Die polisie het omstreeks 23:15 op ‘n skietery in Blombos-straat reageer.
“Met hul aankoms het lede op twee mans met skietwonde afgekom. ‘n Derde man, wat ook skietwonde opgedoen het, is in Eislebenweg gevind nadat hy blykbaar van die skuts gevlug het. Al drie is op die toneel dood verklaar.
“‘n Vrou wat ernstige skietwonde opgedoen het, is vir mediese behandeling na die hospitaal vervoer,” het die SAPD gesê.
Vier gewapende verdagtes, wat in ‘n wit Nissan Almera met donker vensters gery het, het na bewering die slagoffers genader, op hulle losgebrand en van die toneel gevlug.
Die motief vir die skietery is nog nie amptelik vasgestel nie en vorm deel van die voortdurende ondersoek. Speurders van die Anti-Bende-eenheid ondersoek die voorval.
Volgens die SAPD volg die ondersoekspan alle beskikbare inligting op en kyk hulle na kringtelevisie- (CCTV) beelde en soek getuies wat kan help om die verdagtes te identifiseer.
Die Wes-Kaapse provinsiale polisiekommissaris, luitenant-generaal Sizakhele Dyantyi, het sy kommer uitgespreek oor skietery en ‘n beroep op ondersoekers gedoen om die verantwoordelikes vinnig te identifiseer en te arresteer.

3 men killed, woman wounded in Lentegeur shooting
Bloodbath in Mitchells Plain
CRIME SCENE: Mitchells Plain, Cape Town: Three people have been shot and killed and one wounded in yet another Cape Town bloodbath.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Western Cape have launched a manhunt for four suspects involved in the shooting incident in Lentegeur, Mitchells Plain, late on Wednesday evening, 30 September 2026.
Police responded to reports of a shooting in Blombos Street at approximately 23:15.
“On arrival, members found two deceased men with gunshot wounds. A third man, who had also sustained gunshot wounds, was found in Eisleben Road after apparently fleeing from the shooters. He was declared deceased.
“A woman who sustained serious gunshot wounds during the incident was transported to hospital for medical treatment,” said SAPS.
It is alleged that four armed suspects, travelling in a white Nissan Almera with tinted windows, approached the victims and opened fire before fleeing the area.
The motive for the shooting has not yet been officially established and forms part of the ongoing investigation. Anti-Gang Unit detectives are investigating the incident.
According to SAPST the investigative team are following up on all available information and are also canvassing the area for possible CCTV footage and witnesses who may assist in identifying the suspects.
The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi, expressed concern over the loss of life and called on investigators to swiftly identify and apprehend those responsible.

Two men arrested for illegal guns and ammunition

CRIME SCENE: Kewtown, Cape Town: Two men have been arrested for being in possession of illegal firearms and ammunition.

Members of Operation Prosper conducted an intelligence driven operation in Kewtown, Athlone on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, said the South African Police Service (SAPS).
“The team first went to a house in Nerina Close where they confiscated an unlicensed 9mm pistol with 13 rounds of ammunition and arrested a 39-year-old male suspect.
“They then proceeded to a second address in Koodoo Street, where they seized a 9mm pistol without a serial number and six rounds of ammunition. Here a 38-year-old man was arrested,” said SAPS.
