Girl (17) arrested for gun
CRIME SCENE: Ottery, Cape Town: The South African Police Service (SAPS) arrested a 17-year-old girl for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Sunday, 28 June 2026.

Members of the Anti-Gang Unit searched a premises in Hooggenoeg Court, Ottery, and confiscated a 9mm pistol with seven rounds of ammunition. The girl was arrested and will appear in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 29 June 2026.
Hanover Park: In another incident the Anti-Gang Unit followed up information about a firearm at a premises in Mentz Court. They conducted a search on Sunday, 28 June 2026 and found a 9mm pistol with 23 rounds of ammunition in the house.
A 42-year-old man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The police said this is part of ongoing efforts to remove firearms from communities and create a safer environment.
