Teens arrested for illegal guns
CRIME SCENE: Malmesbury, Swartland: The South African Police Service (SAPS) have arrested to teenagers with illegal firearms.

According to SAPS the Anti-Economic Crime Task and the Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Policing Teams were deployed in Malmesbury following a mass shooting that claimed two lives and left eight people seriously injured on Sunday, 12 July 2026.
While conducting crime prevention duties on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, members spotted two males, aged 16 and 17-years, in the street.
“The suspects were searched and two firearms with serial numbers removed were recovered. One firearm was loaded with nine rounds of ammunition, while the other contained eight rounds.
“Both suspects were arrested for possession of prohibited firearms and unlawful possession of ammunition,” said SAPS.
