Arrest in police killings
CRIME SCENE: Reiger Park, Gauteng: A known gangster, who was out on bail in other cases, has been arrested for the killing of two South African Police Service (SAPS) members and two civilians.

Two SAPS rifles have also been recovered at the place where he was arrested in KwaDukathole Informal Settlement,Germiston.
The multi-disciplinary team consisting of DPCI’s (HAWKS) Serious Organised Crime Investigation, PRASA, Gauteng Crime Intelligence Tactical and Special Operations, Provincial Tracking Team, Tactical Response Team and Anti-Gang Unit worked tirelessly throughout the weekend and made a breakthrough on Sunday, 9 August 2026.

According to SAPS the multidisciplinary team engaged in a tracing operation of suspects allegedly involved in the murder of two Gauteng the two Anti-Gang-Unit members, Constables Tapelo Tlomatsana and Sphiwe Sibeko as well as two civilian women.
“The suspect is reportedly a known gangster who was out on bail with several outstanding cases before court including two murders, two attempted murders and possession of an unlicensed firearm. The investigation into the killings remains ongoing, with police continuing to pursue all those involved.
“The investigation is continuing and we are not ruling out the possibility of more arrests,” said SAPS.
