Gunmen wound five
CRIME SCENE: Bonteheuwel, Cape Town: Detectives from the South African Police Service’s Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) are investigating two shooting incidents after five people were wounded in Bonteheuwel on Tuesday evening, 14 April 2026.

In one incident that occurred in Amandel Street, a group of people was standing outside a shop when a vehicle approached and two suspects jumped out. The suspects started firing at the group, and a teenager (16), along with children aged 12, 11 and 10, were injured. The victims were taken to a medical facility.
In the second incident in Citrus Street, a 30-year-old man was shot in the back by a gunman in a moving vehicle. He was also transported to a hospital.
According to the police the motive for the shootings is believed to be related to gang violence. No arrests have been made yet.
▪The South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) is a specialized, national unit launched in November 2018, to dismantle criminal gangs. It focuses on illegal firearms, drugs, and reducing gang-related murders.
