CRIME SCENE: Parow, Cape Town: A proactive patrol by Voortrekker Road Corridor Improvement District (VRCID) safety officers resulted in the arrest of a suspect linked to recent smash-and-grab incidents at the corner of Voortrekker Road and Mike Pienaar Boulevard.

On Saturday, 30 May 2026, VRCID officers observed four suspicious individuals at the intersection and did a stop-and-search operation.

During the search, officers recovered a knife and an imitation firearm from one of the suspects. The individual was identified as a suspect linked to the recent smash-and-grab incidents reported at this hotspot.

The suspect was arrested and transported to Parow South African Police Services, where he was handed over for further processing.
