Body found in drain
LANSDOWNE, Cape Town: The South African Police Service (SAPS) registered an inquest following the discovery of a man’s body on Friday, 24 July 2026 in Turfhall Road.

A media liaison officer for the Western Cape police, Captain FC Van Wyk, said the deceased was found inside a stormwater drain under a plastic sheet that had apparently been used as a makeshift shelter.
“No immediate signs of foul play were observed at the scene. A postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death. The scene was processed and the body was removed by forensic services,” said Van Wyk.

CRIME SCENE: Mitchells Plain, Cape Town: Two teenagers, a boy and girl, have been gunned down in yet another bloood bath on the Cape Flats.

This time the scene of the crime was Tafelsig, on Friday, 24 July 2026.
According to a media liaison officer for the Western Cape police, Captain FC Van Wyk, the police received a complaint at about 21:15 of a shooting incident in front of a tuckshop in Laura Street, Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain.
“On the scene members found an 18-year-old female with one gunshot wound to the back. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.
“A second victim, an 18-year-old male was transported to hospital with a private vehicle, but was declared deceased on arrival. A third person, a 23-year-old male, was hit by a stray bullet. He sustained a gunshot wound to his right arm.
“Circumstances surrounding this shooting incident are under investigation. The motive is believed to be gang related,” said Van Wyk.
Mitchells Plain police registered two counts of murder and an attempted murder case for investigation. No arrest has been made yet and investigation continues.

In another report of a shooting on Saturday, 25 July 2026, two people, believed to be shop owners were wounded inside a shop in 12th Avenue, Silver City, Tafelsig. This incident happened not far from the Laura Street incident.

MURDER SCENE: Khayelitsha, Cape Town: Another mass shooting has rocked the Mother City following the killing of three people on Friday, 23 July 2026.

Western Cape police have launched a murder investigation following the shooting incident in Site B, Khayelitsha in which three men, aged 30, 31 and 32-years, were fatally wounded.
The police responded to a complaint at Mofala Street, Site B, at approximately 15:50, where they found the victims with multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.
“Preliminary information indicates that two unidentified armed men arrived at the premises and made enquiries about the victims before proceeding to a structure at the back of the property.
“Shortly thereafter, gunshots were heard. The suspects were then seen fleeing the scene in a white Hyundai motor vehicle.No arrests have been made,” said SAPS.
