Motorcycle manager allegedly tries to bribe Shoprite boss
Hawks halt bike corruption
CRIME SCENE: Bellville, Cape Town: A man has been arrested for attempting to bribe a Shoprite manager with over R10 000.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) the Serious Corruption Investigation team of the Hawks, based in Bellville, arrested the 52-year-old suspect on Monday, 17 August 2026 on corruption charges.
The team was informed that an Admin Manager at the Shoprite Group attended a meeting at a restaurant with the suspect, who is a manager at South African Motorcycles, a Shoprite service provider.
It is alleged the man handed a plastic bag containing vaping devices to the Shoprite manager as well as “something valuable” according to the suspect.
“It was later discovered that the something valuable was a white envelope containing R5000 cash and an extra R5100 as gratification to ensure that his company retains the contract at Shoprite for the procurement of motorcycles.
“The Hawks were immediately alerted which resulted in the subsequent arrest of the suspect. He is expected to appear in the Paarl Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 19 August 2026,” said SAPS.
