Metro cops find two guns in getaway car
2 arrested after double murder
CRIME SCENE: Seawinds, Cape Town: Two men have been arrested following a double murder that occurred in Cafda Village last week.

The City of Cape Town’s Metro Police were alerted to the shooting in Ensor Street, Cafda at 09:25 on Friday, 9 October 2026
The Metro cops were provided with a description of the shooters’ getaway car, a white Chevrolet which was driving along Military Road, near Seawinds, Lavender Hill.
Following a high-speed chase through the streets of Capricorn, the police managed to bring the car to a halt in Seawinds, where the three occupants attempted to evade arrest, but the officers apprehended two of the suspects.

During the search of the vehicle, the officers recovered two firearms and 11 live rounds of ammunition in a magazine.
The vehicle had allegedly been hijacked in Cafda after the Ensor Street shooting.
The suspects were arrested on charges of the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as reckless and negligent driving, and were detained at Steenberg SAPS for further investigation.
“The officers’ swift response resulted in the arrest of two murder suspects who at that time were also putting the lives of others on the road at risk. Whether it is taking criminals or illegal weapons out of circulation, our officers will continue to make our streets safer,” said the Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith.
They were among 474 suspects arrested by City enforcement departments this past week.
Metro Police arrested 120 suspects, recovered nine hijacked and/or stolen vehicles and six prohibited firearms.
Law Enforcement officers made 297 arrests, while Traffic Officers arrested 57 suspects, 48 for drunk driving, eight for reckless and negligent driving, and one on other charges.
The public can report incidents and emergencies, or any suspicious and/or criminal activities, to the Public Emergency Communication Centre (PECC) on 021 480 7700, or to log by-law and traffic-related complaints using the Safety and Security feature on the City App.
