Suspects demand protection fee from victim
Reward offered after murder
CRIME SCENE: Nyanga, Cape Town: Police in the Western Cape are offering a cash reward of up to R50 000 for information of a murder investigation.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) Nyanga police responded to a shooting incident on 29 June 2026 at about 15:45, during which Bashira Issaka (35), a Ghanaian national, was shot and killed inside his red container business premises by suspects who were allegedly demanding a protection fee.
According to SAPS the investigating officer is pursuing all available leads to bring the perpetrators to justice and is appealing to the community for assistance. The identities of those who provide information will remain anonymous. A cash reward is offered for information leading to the successful arrest and conviction of the suspects.
Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is requested to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Donovan Peterson of the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit, on 084 684 0909 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
