CRIME SCENE: Lotus River, Cape Town: An e-hailing driver has been robbed of his cellphone and clothing by perpetrators pretending to be customers.

A video of the robbery has gone viral since the incident occurred with at least three suspects visible during the incident.

According to Constable Ndakhe Gwala, a police media liaison officer for the Western Cape, Grassy Park police are investigating a case of armed robbery following thge incident that occurred in Klip Road, Lotus River on Tuesday 28 July 2026.

“A 25-year-old man responded to a ride request at Klip Road. On arrival he was threatened with a firearm and robbed of his cellphone and black hoodie top by unknown male suspects.
