Polisie vermoed afpersing speel rol

MISDAADTONEEL: Atlantis, Kaapstad: In nog ‘n voorval wat montlik verbind kan word aan afpersing, is ‘n buitelander in Witsand, Atlantis, geskiet.
Kaptein FC Van Wyk, ‘n skakelbeampte van die Wes-Kaapse polisie, het gesê die Atlantis-polisie het ‘n saak van poging tot moord geregistreer ná die voorval wat Dinsdagaand, 4 Augustus 2026 omstreeks 19:20 in Bhabhathanestraat plaasgevind het.
“Die 40-jarige manlike haarkapper is in sy regterbobeen geskiet. Die slagoffer is na ‘n nabygeleë hospitaal vervoer vir mediese behandeling. Die motief kan vermoedelik afpersing wees en geen arrestasies is nog gemaak nie,” het Van Wyk gesê.

CRIME SCENE: Atlantis, Cape Town: A foreign national has been shot and wounded in Witsand, Atlantis in what is believed to be another extortion related incident.
Captain FC Van Wyk, a Western Cape police media liaison officer, said the Atlantis police registered an attempted murder case following the incident which happened on Tuesday evening, 4 August 2026 at about 19:20 in Bhabhathane Street.
“The 40-year-old male barber was shot and wounded in his right upper leg. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The motive is believed to be extortion and no arrests have been made yet,” said Van Wyk.
