Plane crashes on Midrand road
ACCIDENT SCENE: A light commercial aircraft crashed on Tuesday afternoon, 8 September 2026 in Glen Austin, Midrand, Gauteng.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) said the plane crashed at the intersection of New Road and Old Pretoria Main Road (R101) in Glen Austin.
“Emergency Management Services (EMS) are actively on the scene responding to the plane crash. Following the initial crash, a secondary motor vehicle accident occurred at the same location, resulting in severe traffic disruptions and heavy delays on the roadway,” said the JMPD.
At this stage, authorities have not confirmed the number of injuries or casualties resulting from either incident.
The plane has since been loaded onto the back of a truck and transported out of the area.
