CRIME SCENE: Delft, Cape Town: Four people – two men and two women – have been arrested on drug and illegal firearm charges.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) members attached to Operation Prosper deployed in Delft policing precinct to address the ongoing gun violence, illegal drug dealings and extortions made the arrests on Tuesday, 22 September 2026.

The police followed up on information of illegal activities occurring in Hodna Street, Delft.

“Upon their arrival at the premises, they searched a 38-year-old man and found him to be in possession of a 9mm pistol, 45 rounds of ammunition and 188 units of mandrax tablets. He was arrested at the scene.

“Later they followed up information of drug activities at a premises in Sandriver Crescent, Leiden. A 47-year-old man was arrested for the possession of two imitation firearms and 40 sachets of tik,” said SAPS.

A 39-year-old woman was later arrested at a premises in Verlore Street, Leiden Delft after she was searched and allegedly found in possession of 53 sachets of Tik and an undisclosed amount of Tik yet to be packaged.

SAPS said they also followed up on information of a woman selling drugs at a premises in Mahli Street, N2 Gateway, Delft. A 46-year-old woman was found in possession of 420 sachets Tik and she was arrested.

KRAAIFONTEIN: According to SAPS members patrolling in Scottsdene, Kraaifontein followed up information that a person was selling liquor without a licence. Upon arrival at the premises in Bontebok Street they found a large amount of ciders and beers. 

On asking the homeowner for his tavern license, he could not produce it. The 32-year-old man was arrested for dealing in liquor without a license and detained at Kraaifontein SAPS.

RETREAT: The police arrested a 37-year-old woman who was allegedly found in possession of 21 packets of cocaine inside a wendy house in Beethoven Street.
