Verdagtes bars by huis in terwyl mense partytjie hou

MISDAADTONEEL: KwaMakhutha, KwaZulu-Natal: Elf mense is dood en drie gewond toe gewapende mans Dinsdagaand, 22 September 2026, by ‘n huis ingestorm en op die groep begin skiet het.
Volgens die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) was een van die slagoffers ‘n swanger vrou.
“Inligting wat tans beskikbaar is, dui daarop dat 13 mans en een vrou – wat na bewering swanger was – in ‘n huis partytjie gehou het toe drie mans op hulle begin skiet het.
“Tien slagoffers is op die toneel oorlede en vier is na die hospitaal geneem, waar een van hulle aan skietwonde beswyk het.
“Voorlopige ondersoeke het aan die lig gebring dat sommige van die slagoffers deur Misdaadintelligensie ondersoek word in verband met onwettige aktiwiteite waaroor die polisie tans nie besonderhede kan bekendmaak nie,” het die SAPD gesê.
Die waarnemende nasionale polisie kommissaris, Luitenant-Generaal Puleng Dimpane, het die provinsiale kommissaris van KwaZulu-Natal opdrag gegee om onmiddellik ‘n 72-uur-opsporingoperasie van stapel te stuur om die verdagtes te arresteer.
Luitenant-generaal Dimpane het haar besorgdheid oor die sinnelose lewensverlies uitgespreek en haar medelye met die families van die oorledenes betuig, terwyl sy die beseerdes ‘n spoedige herstel toegewens het.
Hoewel die motief vir die skietery nog nie bevestig kan word nie, bestaan daar ‘n moontlikheid dat ‘n vete tussen mededingende groepe nie uitgesluit word nie, het die SAPD gesê.
Die SAPD doen ‘n beroep op gemeenskapslede om geloofwaardige inligting aan ondersoekers te verskaf wat kan help om die verdagtes te identifiseer en op te spoor. Inligting kan aan die ondersoekspan verskaf word, of anoniem deur middel van Stop Misdaad op 08600 10111; wenke kan ook anoniem via die MySAPS-App deurgegee word.

CRIME SCENE: KwaMakhutha, KwaZulu-Natal: Eleven people were killed and three wounded when gunmen burst into a house and opened fire on the group on Tuesday night, 22 September 2026.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) one of the victims was a pregnant woman.
“Information available at this stage suggests that 13 men and one woman, who is believed to be pregnant, were reportedly having a party inside a house when three men opened fire on them.
“Ten victims died at the scene and four were taken to hospital where one of them succumbed to gunshot injuries.
“Preliminary investigations have revealed that some of the victims were being investigated by Crime Intelligence in connection with illegal activities which police cannot divulge at the moment,” said SAPS.
The Acting National Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, has directed the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner to immediately activate the 72-hour tracking operation to pursue and apprehend the suspects.
Lieutenant Dimpane has expressed her deep concern over the senseless loss of life and conveyed her condolences to the families of the deceased, while wishing those injured a speedy recovery.
Although the motive for the shooting cannot be confirmed yet, feud between rival groupings cannot be ruled out, said SAPS.
SAPS is appealing to community members to provide investigators with reliable and credible information that can assist in identifying, tracing and apprehending the suspects. Two robbed near cemetery, woman almost raped
Student fights off sex predator
CRIME SCENE: Bloemfontein, Free State: Police are searching for two suspects following an incident involving two 21-year-old students, one of whom was almost sexually assaulted.
The incident happened in the Memorial Road area near the cemetery in Bloemfontein on 21 September 2026, according to the South African Police Service (SAPS).
The two victims were walking in the Uitsig area when they were robbed of their personal belongings. The female victim was allegedly forced into nearby bushes, where she fought off the suspect before running for help. A passer-by stopped to assist her.
The incident was reported at Park Road Police Station and a case of attempted sexual offence and robbery with a weapon other than a firearm has been registered.
SAPS said the matter was currently under investigation and no arrests had yet been made.
