Arrests a bitter pill to swallow

CRIME SCENE: Hanover Park, Cape Town: The South African Police Service have a arrested two men after allegedly finding a stash of Mandrax tablets and medicine in their possession.

According to the Western Cape police media office, members attached to Operation Lockdown III received information about a house where drugs were being sold from.  

On Sunday, 10 May 2026 the police searched the premises in Hanover Park Avenue, Hanover Park and found a plastic bag inside a washing machine. Inside the bag were 900 Boss Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R45 000.  A 19-year-old male was arrested for possession of drugs.

 The police further stated that the members continued with their search on the premises and found four boxes containing pharmaceutical products – 80 x 100ml bottles of Astrapain syrup and 10 x 100ml bottles of Stilpyn. A 39-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of the unlawful pharmaceutical products.
