Three in court for mass shooting
NATIONAL: An intensive investigation by the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) has led to the arrest of three suspects who are expected to appear before the Orkney Magistrate’s Court in connection with an alleged mass shooting at a tavern in Kanana.

The suspects, aged between 27 and 32-years, were arrested on Thursday, 25 June 2026, following investigations into an incident that allegedly occurred at a local tavern in Kanana on Friday, 01 May 2026.
It is alleged that the three suspects entered the tavern armed with firearms and opened fire on patrons without any apparent provocation. Two people succumbed to their injuries, while five others sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
The Provincial Anti-Gang Investigation Unit, working in collaboration with Kanana Detectives and other specialised units, conducted an extensive investigation that allegedly linked the suspects to the incident.
The trio have been charged with two counts of murder and five counts of attempted murder. They are expected to appear before the Orkney Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 26 June 2026.
