CRIME SCENE: Viking Park, Cape Town: People watched in horror on Friday morning, 3 July 2026, when two people were shot and killed, one inside a barber shop, at the Viking Park commercial and retail centre.

According to a media liaison officer for the Western Cape police, Captain FC van Wyk, police registered a murder following a shooting incident at 10:45 in a barber shop at Viking Park, Elsies River.

“A 31-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded at the barber shop. Following this incident, another unidentified man was shot and killed on the field opposite Viking Park, direction Ruyterwacht, while a third person fled the scene. It is unknown if he sustained injuries.

 “The motive for both shooting incidents forms part of police investigations,” said Van Wyk.
