IPID probes Glencairn shooting
CRIME SCENE: Glencairn, Cape Town: A shooting incident occured in Glencairn Heights, near Simons Town on Saturday, 11 July 2026.

According to reports the South African Police (SAPS) National Intervention Unit was on the scene attempting to arrest a murder suspect.
Details remain sketchy, but it was reported a man died and a woman arrested during the incident.
A media liaison officer for the Western Cape police, Captain FC Van Wyk, said the incident is being investigated by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).

Voertuig ‘jammers’ agter tralies
MISDAADTONEEL: Grassy Park: Die Stad Kaapstad se verkeerspolisie en die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) het drie verdagtes gearresteer wat vermoedelik betrokke is by voertuig jamming in die suidelike voorstede.

JP Smith, die Stad se burgemeesterskomiteelid vir Veiligheid en Sekuriteit, sê inligting is Vrydagmiddag, 10 Julie 2026 ontvang oor ‘n voertuig wat na bewering gekoppel is aan jamming voorvalle.
“Beamptes van ons verkeersdienste, ondersteun deur die SAPD se Blitspatrollie, het die voertuig vinnig opgespoor en ‘n taktiese operasie uitgevoer in die parkeer area van Nando’s op die hoek van Prince George-rylaan en 5de-laan, Grassy Park.
“Die voertuig is deursoek en jamming toestel, skootrekenaar, drie selfone en ander items wat vermoedelik gesteel is, is gevind,” het Smith gesê.
Die drie verdagtes, van Pelican Park, Philippi en Gugulethu, is op die toneel gearresteer en aan die Grassy Park SAPD oorhandig vir verdere ondersoek.
“Welgedaan aan almal wat betrokke was by nog ‘n suksesvolle operasie wat help om ons gemeenskappe veiliger te maak,” het Smith gesê.

Vehicle jammers taken down
CRIME SCENE: Grassy Park: The City of Cape Town’s traffic officers and the South African Police Service arrested three suspects believed to be involved in remote vehicle jamming in the Southern Suburbs.

JP Smith, the City’s Mayoral Committee member for Safety and Security said information was circulated on Friday afternoon, 10 July 2026, about a suspicious vehicle allegedly linked to remote jamming incidents.
“Officers from our traffic services, supported by SAPS Flying Squad, quickly located the vehicle and conducted a tactical takedown in the parking area of Nando’s at the corner of Prince George Drive and 5th Avenue, Grassy Park.
“A search of of the vehicle uncovered a remote jamming device, laptop, three cell phones and other items believed to have been stolen,” said Smith.
The three suspects, from Pelikan Park, Philippi and Gugulethu, were arrested on the scene and handed over to Grassy Park SAPS for further investigation.
“Well done to everyone involved in another successful operation that helps make our communities safer,” said Smith.

MISDAADTONEEL: Khayelitsha, Kaapstad: Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) het twee mans in hegtenis geneem vir die onwettige besit van vuurwapens.

Volgens die SAPD het ‘n operasie wat deur lede van Operasie Prosper op Donderdag 9 Julie 2026 in Khayelitsha uitgevoer is, gelei to die arrestasie van ‘n 21-jarige man in Memzistraat, Site B, nadat ‘n vuurwapen met agt rondtes ammunisie in sy besit gevind is.
In ‘n aparte voorval is ‘n 34-jarige man gearresteer vir die besit van ‘n ongelisensieerde vuurwapen en ammunisie by sy woning in Krwacastraat, Site B. Lwandle, Strand:
‘n 25-jarige man van die Ethembeni-informele nedersetting is gearresteer vir die besit van dwelms nadat hy met 15 halwe Mandrax-tablette en 58 sakkies Tik in sy besit gevind is tydens ‘n stop-en-deursoek-operasie.

Two men behind bars for guns
CRIME SCENE: Khayelitsha, Cape Town: The South African Police Service (SAPS) have arrested two men for the illegal possession of firearms.

According to SAPS, an operation carried out by members of of Operation Prosper on Thursday, 9 July 2026 in Khayelitsha resulted in a 21-year-old man being apprehended in Memzi Street, Site B following the discovery of a firearm and eight rounds of ammunition that were found in his possession.
In a separate incident, a 34-year-old man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at his residence at Krwaca Street, Site B.
Lwandle, Strand: A 25-year-old man from the Ethembeni informal settlement is in police custody for possession of drugs after he was found with 15 half Mandrax tablets and 58 sachets of tik in his possession during a stop and search operation.
