Verdagtes in verskeie areas gearresteer

Operasie Prosper lewer sukses

MISDAADTONEEL: Delft, Kaapstad: Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) het ‘n verdagte wat vir poging tot moord gesoek is, opgespoor en gearresteer.

Lede van Operasie Prosper en speurders van Samora Machel het Woensdag, 2 September 2026 ‘n opsporingsoperasie in die Delft-gebied uitgevoer, opsoek na ‘n verdagte van ‘n poging tot moord wat in Samora Machel plaasgevind het.

Volgens die SAPD het die lede ‘n perseel in Hurricane-straat deursoek waar hulle die 23-jarige verdagte sowel as ‘n .38 Special-rewolwer met ammunisie gevind het.

Valhalla Park: Drie verdagtes van 53, 25 en 24-jaar-oud is in Saint Elias-laan gearesteer, waar hulle na bewering ‘n gesteelde voertuig gestroop het.

Die polisie het inligting oor die voertuig wat gestroop word, opgevolg en die verdagtes by die genoemde adres gevind.

Khayelitsha: Lede van Operasie Prosper het ‘n perseel by die Enkanini-informele nedersetting deursoek en ‘n 26-jarige man gearresteer toe hulle 100 klein pakkies met dagga, 50 dagga sigarette en kontant in die woning gevind het.

CRIME SCENE: Lenasia, Johannesburg: The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) have launched a full-scale manhunt following an incident in Lenasia where an on-duty officer was disarmed of his service weapon.

A video of the incident, which happened on Thursday morning, 3 September 2026, has since gone viral on social media.

The video shows the officer being accosted by three armed men and disarmed before fleeing the scene in a car.

The JMPD said in a statement the officer was disarmed while performing official duties in the Lenasia area. 

“During the encounter, the suspects managed to disarm the officer before fleeing the scene in a getaway vehicle toward the Golden Highway.

“No severe physical injuries to the officer have been reported at this stage. Medical and wellness support mechanisms have been activated to assist the officer involved.

“The JMPD strongly condemns any attack on law enforcement personnel, as an attack on an officer represents a direct threat to the safety of our communities. Dedicated units, in collaboration with law enforcement partners, are actively investigating the matter to recover the weapon and bring those responsible to justice.

We appeal to members of the public who may have information regarding this incident to report it immediately.”

MISDAADTONEEL: Jeffreysbaai, Oos-Kaap: Die polisie het drie verdagtes gearresteer en ‘ klomp dwelms by twee persele gekonfiskeer.

Volgens die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) is die verdagtes Woensdag, 2 September 2026 tydens ‘n multi-agentskap, intelligensie-gedrewe operasie in Jeffreysbaai gearresteer.

Die span het deel gevorm van inter-provinsiale operasie wat die grense van die Oos-Kaap, Wes-Kaap, Vrystaat en Noord-Kaap provinsies oorskry.

“Hierdie gekoördineerde opsporingsinisiatief teiken kriminele sindikate en onwettige dwelms wat oor provinsiale grense beweeg.

“Die operasie in Jeffreysbaai is uitgevoer deur Humansdorp Misdaad-intelligensie, die Jeffreysbaai misdaad voorkomingseenheid en die Suid-Afrikaanse Nasionale Weermag.

“Die operasie het twee geïdentifiseerde plekke geteiken. In totaal is meer as 450 Mandrax-tablette en 50 g Tik van die strate verwyder, wat tot drie aktiewe kriminele dossiere vir dwelmbesit en -handel gelei het,” het die SAPD gesê.

Drug mule arrested at airport

CRIME SCENE: OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg: A week after police made a major drug bust, another suspected drug mule has been arrested here.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) arrested the 54-year-old South African on Thursday morning, 3 September after cocaine was found in the suspect’s luggage..

According to SAPS the arrest follows the operationalisation of intelligence-led information by the police regarding the suspect, who was reportedly en route to Hong Kong, China, when he was intercepted at the airport.

“A search of the suspect and his luggage led to the discovery of the suspected cocaine concealed inside the luggage. The exact value and weight of the drugs is yet to be determined and will be confirmed in due course,” said SAPS.

Last week, police intercepted two separate cocaine consignments at OR Tambo airport, with a combined estimated value of R200 million.

SAPS said it remained committed to disrupting and dismantling drug trafficking networks through intelligence-led operations and targeted interventions at ports of entry.


Multi-agency team arrest three, seize drugs

Cross border ops bring success

CRIME SCENE: Jeffrey’s Bay, Eastern Cape: The ongoing fight against criminal syndicates and illegal supply line of narcotics has yielded success in this surfer’s paradise.

Three suspects were arrested and a substantial amount of illegal drugs were confiscated on Wednesday, 2 September 2026 during a multi-agency, intelligence-driven operation at two separate premises within the Jeffreys Bay policing precinct.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the team formed part of massive inter-provincial cross-border operations across the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Free State, and Northern Cape provinces. 

“This coordinated tracking initiative targets criminal syndicates and illegal supply lines moving across provincial boundaries.

“The Jeffreys Bay leg of the operation was executed by Humansdorp Crime Intelligence, the Jeffreys Bay Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).

“The operation targeted two identified locations. In total over 450 Mandrax tablets and 50g of Tik were taken off the streets, leading to three active criminal dockets for drug possession and dealing,” said SAPS.

Attempted murder suspect nabbed

CRIME SCENE: Delft, Cape Town: The South African Police Services (SAPS) successfully traced and arrested a suspect wanted for attempted murder.

Members of Operation Prosper and Samora Machel detectives conducted a tracing operation in the Delft area on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, where they searched for a suspect wanted in an attempted murder case which occurred in Samora Machel.

According to SAPS the members searched a premises in Hurricane Street where they found the 23-year-old suspect as well as a .38 Special revolver with ammunition hidden in the house.

Valhalla Park: Three suspects aged 53, 25 and 24-years were arrested in Saint Elias Avenue, where they were found allegedly stripping a stolen vehicle. 

The police followed up on information about a vehicle being stripped and found the suspects at the said address.

Khayelitsha: Operation Prosper members searched a premises at the Enkanini informal settlement and arrested a 26-year-old male when they found 100 small packets containing dagga, 50 dagga cigarettes and cash in the dwelling. He faces a charge of dealing in dagga.
