Police arrest suspect in Ekurhuleni killing
Update! Another body of a woman has been discovered in Dawn Park. The incident will be added to the investigations into the deaths of women in Ekurhuleni, according to the South African Police Service (SAPS).
The unidentified body was discovered earlier on Thursday morning, 17 September 2026. This brings the total number of bodies discovered to nine in two months. The police appeal to community members to share any information that may assist with the investigations on the Crime Stop line at 08600 10111 or provide anonymous tip-offs on the mobile MySAPS-App.
CRIME SCENE: Ekurhuleni, Gauteng: The South African Police Service (SAPS) have arrested a suspect in connection with one of the Kempton Park killings.

The Acting National Police Commissioner of the South African Police Service, Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, confirmed on Tuesday night, 15 September 2026 the suspect has been arrested in connection with a murder of one of the women which was committed in July.
SAPS are also pursuing another person of interest and a R400,000 reward has been offered for information that could lead to a breakthrough in the investigation into the deaths of eight women in Ekurhuleni.
SAPS have confirmed the body of an eight woman was found in Ekurhuleni on Tuesday, 15 September 2026.
The Acting Minister of Police, Mr Firoz Cachalia, the Minister of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Ms Sindisiwe Chikunga, the Deputy Minister of Police, Dr Polly Boshielo, the Premier of Gauteng, Mr Panyaza Lesufi, and the Acting National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, led a high-level delegation in a meeting on Tuesday evening, 15 September 2026 to receive a comprehensive briefing on the latest developments surrounding the discovery of the eight women’s bodies.
According to SAPS the meeting focused on the progress of the investigations, the deployment of multidisciplinary expertise, and measures being implemented to ensure that those responsible are identified and brought to justice.
The delegation met with senior SAPS management and investigators at the SAPS Gauteng Provincial Head Office in Parktown.
