Robbers linked to 26 business robberies in Gauteng
Robbery suspects behind bars
CRIME SCENE: Gauteng: The Tshwane Murder and Robbery Unit have arrested several suspects linked to a series of business robberies, targeting chain stores in Tshwane and Johannesburg.

The suspects are allegedly linked to robberies at various retail outlets, including PEP Stores, PEP Cell, PEP Home and TOPS at SPAR, where cash, money vouchers and alcohol were reportedly stolen.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) said one of the suspects had previously been arrested but allegedly escaped from the Cullinan Magistrate’s Court, after which he was believed to have continued participating in the robberies.
“The investigation gained momentum in July 2026 when members of the Tshwane Murder and Robbery Unit identified a suspect believed to be linked to the robbery syndicate. The suspect was subsequently arrested in September 2026, together with a vehicle allegedly used in the commission of the crimes.
“Further investigations, supported by the analysis of CCTV footage, enabled investigators to identify additional suspects and establish their alleged involvement in the robberies.
“On Monday, 26 October 2026, members arrested a suspect at his mother’s residence in the Temba area. While conducting further interviews and following up on information, the team received intelligence on the whereabouts of another suspect believed to be involved in numerous business robberies across Tshwane and Johannesburg.
“After verifying the information, members planned and executed an operation in Pretoria Central on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, to trace and apprehend the outstanding suspect.
“During the operation, information emerged that the suspects were allegedly planning another robbery at a PEP store in Mabopane. Investigators established that two suspects had arranged to meet before proceeding to the targeted premises to commit the robbery.
“The operational team strategically positioned themselves and monitored the suspects’ movements. One of the suspects was subsequently spotted and arrested before the planned robbery could be carried out,” said SAPS.
Another suspect was arrested in KwaMhlanga, The suspects have been linked to a total of 26 business robbery cases, of which 13 are already on the court roll.
The District Commissioner of Tshwane, Major General Samuel Thine, congratulated the Tshwane Murder and Robbery Unit on their dedication, commitment and persistence in tracking down the suspects and ensuring that they are brought before the courts.
