Emergency worker hijacked
CRIME SCENE: Khayelitsha, Cape Town: Another Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staff member has been attacked.

The worker was attacked and hijacked on Monday, 22 June while on duty.
Constable Ndakhe Gwala, a media liaison officer for the Western Cape police, said the incident occurred at a shopping mall in Khayelitsha.
“The 56-year-old female victim was walking towards her work vehicle when she was approached by gunmen who forced her inside and drove off with her. The police were informed by a bystander who witnessed the incident and a search ensued.
“The victim was found unharmed and the vehicle was recovered with damages inside. The suspects are still at large, investigation is ongoing,” said Gwala.
Last week another EMS staffer, Lionel Rossi, died while chasing after robbers who had taken his cellphone during a smash-and-grab incident in Jan Van Riebeeck Drive, Elsies River. The police have opened an inquest docket to investigate the cause of death.
