CRIME SCENE: Delft, Cape Town: A 32-year-old man has been arrested after police allegedly found an illegal firearm and ammunition in his possession.

Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) Operation Lockdown 3 were conducting an operation on Wednesday, 19 August 2026 after receiving intelligence. 

The suspect was arrested in Bhangane Street, Leiden, Delft and he will appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court once he has been charged.

The operation continued to Kleinvlei where the police searched a suspect’s residence at Dombeya Street, Meltonrose. The search led to the discovery of six mandrax tablets and 17 tik straws hidden under his bed. The 40-year-old man was apprehended for dealing in drugs. 

The operation then moved to Blombos Street also in Meltonrose, where a 65-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs after 23 tik straws and 35 mandrax tablets were found in his house.
