Lwandle suspect faces 14 charges of murder
Man appears over mass murders
A 32-year-old male suspect made his first court appearance before the Strand Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The suspect, who cannot be named at this stage, was arrested by Serious Violent Crime detectives on Friday, 09 October 2026, following an investigation into the Lwandle mass shooting that claimed 11 lives and left 10 wounded in September 2026.
He was linked to another mass shooting that occurred in July 2026 and thus faces 14 counts of murder, 12 counts of attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
The court heard that the suspect does not intend to apply for bail, and the matter was postponed to 20 November 2026 for further investigation.
