Two arrested in same street for guns
CRIME SCENE: Mitchells Plain, Cape Town: Two men have been arrested in the same street in Tafelsig for possession of illegal firearms and ammunition.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Gang Unit arrested the suspects during an intelligence-driven operation on Thursday, 24 September 2026.
According to SAPS the members followed up on information about a suspected firearm at Santa Barbara Street, Tafelsig.
“After a thorough search a 28-year-old man was apprehended for the illegal possession of ammunition and possession of a prohibited firearm following the discovery of four rounds of ammunition and a firearm in his house.
“The operation led the members to a another house in the same street, where they found a firearm and 11 rounds of ammunition during a search. As a result, a 36-year-old man was arrested for possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition,” said SAPS.

UPDATE! The South African Police Service (SAPS) have registered more cases for investigation: attack on police, attempted murder and malicious damage to property. SAPS said the windscreen, roof, left rear passenger door and bonnet were damaged during to the double cab police vehicle.
CRIME SCENE: St Montague Village, Cape Town: Steenberg police members came under attack on Thursday night, 24 September 2026 while responding to multiple shooting incidents here.
According to a media liaison officer for the Western Cape police, Captain FC Van Wyk, police members responded to multiple shooting incidents at about 23:00 in St Boniface Street, St Montague Village, Lavender Hill, and when they arrived, found the street barricaded.
“A group of unidentified community members started stoning the police officials and their vehicles, while some were also shooting at the police.
“The situation escalated and members were exposed to an immediate threat to their safety and took action to disperse the crowd.
“Additional resources were requested to assist in containing the situation and securing the area. Members of Public Order Policing, Anti-Gang Unit, Flying Squad and Operation Prosper responded and assisted in securing the scene.
“On the scene the members found a 47-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to his body and declared deceased by the paramedics. No injuries were sustained by police members or the public,” said Van Wyk
Steenberg police registered a murder case. The motive is believed to be gang related.
The Steenberg Community Police Forum (C{F) has strongly condemned the attack on the SAPS members.
The CPF said in a statement: “This is completely unacceptable. This means one less van available to respond to your emergency, patrol your streets and protect your community.
“We stand firmly behind the affected SAPS members and condemn any attempt to obstruct, intimidate or attack those who are there to serve and protect our communities.”

Young man gunned down at station
CRIME SCENE: Bonteheuwel, Cape Town: A young man has been gunned down in cold blood at the Bonteheuwel train station.
According to Sergeant Wesley Twigg, a media liaison officer for the Western Cape police, the tragic incident occurred on Thursday late afternoon, 17 September 2026.
Twigg said the 23-year-old man was shot in his head at about 17.30 at the station in Bofors Circle.
“Elsies River police responded to a complaint of a shooting and upon arrival on the scene they found the victim with a gunshot wound to his head. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.
“The motive for the attack is believed to be gang related. The suspect/s fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. A murder case was registered for investigation’” said Twigg.
The ward councillor for Bonteheuwel, Angus McKenzie, conveyed his condolences to the family of the young man.
McKenzie posted on Facebook: “Darren had previously been involved in anti-social behaviour, but over the past few years he had made a conscious decision to change his life and focus on taking care of those closest to him. It is heartbreaking that a young man who chose a different path has lost his life in this way.
“I appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has any information that could assist investigators to please come forward and share it through the appropriate law-enforcement channels or our community tip-off line.
“Someone knows what happened. Let’s help bring the perpetrators to justice.”

Police make several arrests for drugs, illegal gun and ammo

CRIME SCENE: Mitchells Plain, Cape Town: A 20-year-old man, who tried to run away from the police and allegedly dropped an illegal firearm, will face his day in court.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) the Anti-Gang Unit conducted an intelligence-driven operation in Beacon Valley, Mitchells Plain on Wednesday, 16 September 2026.
“They followed up on information and were on their way to the identified premises when they spotted a male running to the back of the house and saw him drop something. They apprehended him and found a .38 Special revolver with ammunition lying on the ground,” said SAPS.
PAROW: Members of Operation Lockdown 3 searched an identified premises in Duncan Road, where they found 60 Mandrax tablets hidden behind a cupboard in the dining room. An adult female was arrested for the possession of drugs.
LANGA: A consignment of drugs comprising Tik, cocaine, ecstasy and Mandrax was confiscated at a house in Haarlem Street, Langa, on Wednesday, 16 September 2026 by members of Operation Lockdown 3.
SAPS said they also confiscated an undisclosed amount of cash, which is believed to be the proceeds of crime and arrested a man for dealing in drugs.
Metro cops spot suspects' car, arrest four
Car jammers quickly behind bars
CRIME SCENE: Montague Gardens, Cape Town: Members of the City of Cape Town’s Metro Police special operations have arrested four men for jamming a vehicle and theft.
The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, said the members were on patrol in Gugulethu on Tuesday afternoon, 15 September 2026, when they observed a vehicle that had been circulated earlier.
“The occupants of the vehicle, a Hyundai i10, had been recorded committing theft out of a parked vehicle in Montague Gardens after the owner became a victim of remote jamming,” said Smith.
When the Metro cops spotted the vehicle, they brought it to a stop and all four occupants were arrested.
According to Smith all of the stolen property was recovered inside the vehicle.
The suspects were handed over to Gugulethu police for further investigation and prosecution.

“Die derde liggaam is in Tabang-straat gevind. Voorlopige ondersoeke dui daarop dat al drie oorledenes in die Toyota was toe ‘n ander passasier skielik op mede-passasiers begin skiet.
“Die verdagte het daarna gevlug. Die motief vir die skietery moet nog vasgestel word,” het Van Wyk gesê.

Passenger shoots three others inside vehicle

CRIME SCENE: Khayelitsha, Cape Town: One person shot and killed three men in Makhaza on Wednesday, 16 September 2026.
A Western Cape Police media liaison officer, Captain FC Van Wyk, says Provincial Serious and Violent Crime detectives are hard at work pursuing leads in a bid to apprehend the suspect responsible for the death of the three men.
Van Wyk said Makhaza police registered three counts of murder following the shooting incident which happened at about 12.30 in Joe Gqabi Street, Town Two, Makhaza.
“Police members responded to the abovementioned scene and found the body of an adult male with multiple gunshot wounds inside a grey Toyota vehicle. About 500 metres from the car another body of an adult male was found with multiple gunshot wounds.
“The third body was discovered in Tabang Street. Preliminary investigations indicate that all three deceased were inside the Toyota when another passenger randomly started shooting at fellow passengers.
“The suspect subsequently fled. The deceased are yet to be identified and the motive for the shooting is yet to be determined,” said Van Wyk.

Cops confiscate Khat in shop
CRIME SCENE: Bellville, Cape Town: Police have seized a big stash of the drug Khat hidden in a shop.
The South African Police Service’s (SAPS) Operation Prosper on Tuesday, 15 September 2026 followed up on information about drugs at a premises in Voortrekker Road Bellville.
SAPS said while searching the premises, they found 60 bundles of Khat hidden in the shop. They arrested a 24-year-old foreign national for possession of drugs.
Operation Prosper members also conducted stop-and-search operations in Daffodil Street, Heinz Park. While doing this they searched a male and found 14 small packets containing Tik in his possession. The 23-year-old suspect was arrested for the possession of drugs.

CRIME SCENE: Heathfield, Cape Town: Officers from Steenberg police have rescued a 25-year-old e-hailing driver after he was allegedly raped and held ransom by two women and three men.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) the victim’s brother informed them that he was contacted by the suspects, who demanded R4 000 cash to secure his release, on Saturday, 12 September 2026.
“They located the victim through his vehicle tracker to Southampton Road in Heathfield,” said SAPS.
The victim apparently met one of the female suspects last week through his e-hailing business. They exchanged numbers and communicated throughout the week and eventually made arrangements to meet Saturday.
“When he went to meet her, he was allegedly kidnapped by the suspects and the women raped him.
Police arrested the two women, aged 23 and 34-years, along with three male suspects, aged 16, 42 and 48-years.

Driver killed in broad daylight
CRIME SCENE: Khayelitsha, Cape Town: A man has been shot and killed in broad daylight in Ilitha Park.
The South African Police Service in Lingelethu West responded to reports of a shooting at Ntlazane Street on Thursday, 10 September 2026 at about 12:30.
A Western Cape Police media liaison officer, Constable Ndakhe Gwala, said when police arrived at the scene they found a body of a yet to be identified man lying on the street with gunshot wounds.
“He was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. His Toyota Avanza was a few metres away and had a bullet hole on the driver’s door. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage,” said Gwala.
