CRIME SCENE: Bellville, Cape Town: The K9 Unit of the City of Cape Town’s Metro Police made a huge drug bust in Bellville on Thursday, 14 May 2026.

According to the Metro Police spokesperson, Superintendent Ruth Solomons, officers were conducting patrols at around 13:20 at Parksig Villas apartments.
The handler of K9 “Virus” let him out to conduct a sweep of the parking area when he stopped next to a vehicle.
Officers looked through the windows of the hatchback and spotted some bags inside.
Solomons said they sought permission from the Provincial Narcotics Unit to break into the vehicle. Inside they found 51 bags of Mandrax tablets, seven loose Mandrax tablets, 300g of cocaine and 300g of tik in the boot.
“The drugs have an estimated street value of just over R2.7 million. The contraband was booked in at Bellville SAPS and the vehicle was taken to Stikland for further investigation by SAPS,” she said
