Police arrest man for brutal murder of four
Breakthrough in Du Noon killings
CRIME SCENE: Du Noon, Cape Town: The Western Cape Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General SW Dyantyi, has welcomed the breakthrough in the investigation into the brutal murder of four men, who were assaulted and set alight in Du Noon last month.

Dyanty has commended the detectives for their efforts in bringing the investigation to the point of an arrest for the brutal murders which occurred on Sunday, 23 August 2026.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Western Cape at police responded to a report at approximately 13:30, of four men who had been assaulted and set alight at the offramp from the N7 highway to Malibongwe Drive in Du Noon.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident prompted an intensive investigation by detectives from the Provincial Serious Violent Crime Unit. The investigation subsequently led detectives to a person of interest after valuable information was pursued.
“On Thursday, 3 September 2026, at approximately 23:30, detectives, assisted by members of the Tactical Response Team (TRT), conducted a tracing operation in Du Noon, which resulted in the arrest of a 44-year-old man,” said SAPS.
The suspect was detained and is expected to face four counts of murder. He is scheduled to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 7 September 2026.
According to SAPS the investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to establish the circumstances and motive behind the killings and to determine whether other persons may have been involved.
