Suspects arrested in Ottery, Manenberg
Guns found under bath, in closet
CRIME SCENE: Ottery, Cape Town: The South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Gang Unit arrested a 25-year-old woman on Friday, 19 June 2026 for possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.

At about 15:45, members of the unit followed up on information about a premises in Peter Court, Ottery, where firearms were allegedly being kept. During the search, a 9mm pistol without a serial number and an extended magazine with 21 rounds of ammunition were found inside a cupboard in the suspect’s room.
At about 17:00 the same day the members searched a premises in Edward Informal Settlement, Ottery and found 50 sachets of tik. No arrests were made.
Manenberg: Also on Friday, 19 June 2026 the Anti-Gang Unit searched a premises in Manenberg Avenue where they found .38 revolver without a serial number and four .38 rounds of ammunition hidden under the bath. A 35-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
Malmesbury: During an operation on Friday, 19 June 2026 the SAPS, South African National Defence Force (SANDF) and Metro Police found a double-barrel shotgun without a serial number buried at a house in Chatsworth, Malmesbury. No arrests were made here.
