Man sit oor vuurwapen
MISDAADTONEEL: Bonteheuwel, Kaapstad: ‘n Man sit agter tralies nadat die polisie hom met ‘n onwettige vuurwapen en ammunisie betrap het.
Op Donderdag 16 April 2026 omstreeks 23:15 was die polisie lede van Operasie lockdown III besig om die strate van Bonteheuwel te patrolleer toe hulle iemand gewaar wat begin hardloop het toe hy die polisievoertuig sien.
Hy het na bewering iets op die grond gegooi en by ‘n erf in Juniper-straat ingehardloop. Die polisie het hom agterna gesit en in die proses ‘n .38 Special-rewolwer, 27 rondtes .38 Special-ammunisie en 28 rondtes 9mm-ammunisie opgetel. Hy is in hegtenis geneem vir die besit van ‘n ongelisensieerde vuurwapen en ammunisie.
Hy sal in die Bishop Lavis-landdroshof verskyn nadat hy aangekla is.

CRIME SCENE: Bonteheuwel, Cape Town: The police have removed another illegal firearm from Cape Town streets.
On Thursday, 16 April 2026 at about 23:15, Operation lockdown III police were busy patrolling the streets of Bonteheuwel when they spotted a man who started running when he saw the police vehicle.
While running he dropped something on the ground and ran into a yard in Juniper Street. Police followed him and recovered the dropped items which turned out to be a .38 Special revolver firearm with 27 rounds of .38 Specia ammunition and 28 rounds of 9mm ammunition. He was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Once charged he will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s court.
