Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) het Generaal-majoor Feroz Khan afgedank.
“Generaal-majoor Khan is ontslaan ingevolge Regulasie 9(7)(b) van die SAPD se Dissiplinêre Regulasies, nadat hy versuim het om voor die aangewese senior beampte te verskyn wat verantwoordelik is vir die hantering van die vinnige dissiplinêre proses.
“Die SAPD herhaal sy verbintenis tot aanspreeklikheid, dissipline en professionele gedrag binne die organisasie. Geen lid, ongeag van sy of haar rang of posisie, is bo die wet of die toepaslike dissiplinêre raamwerk nie.
“Aangesien die saak deel is van ‘n regsproses, sal die SAPD voortgaan om die beslissings van die howe te respekteer en verdere inligting verskaf slegs waar dit volgens die wet toelaatbaar is,” het die SAPD in ‘n verklaring gesê.
Khan was die adjunkhoof van die Suid-Afrikaanse Misdaad-iintelligensie voor sy ontslag.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) have fired Major General Feroz Khan from the Service.
“Major General Khan was deemed dismissed in terms of Regulation 9(7)(b) of the SAPS Discipline Regulations, following his failure to appear before the designated senior officer responsible for dealing with the expeditious disciplinary process.
“SAPS reiterates its commitment to accountability, discipline and professional conduct within the organisation. No member, regardless of rank or position, is above the law or the applicable disciplinary framework.
“As the matter has been the subject of legal proceedings, SAPS will continue to respect and abide by the decisions of the courts and provide further information where legally permissible,” SAPS said in a statement.
Khan was the South African Crime Intelligence deputy head before his dismissal.

“Die SAPD het ‘n operasie met die Stad se departemente begin en ondersoekers het lasbriewe vir arrestasie verkry. ‘n Gekoördineerde operasie is van stapel gestuur om die betrokkenes aan te keer.
“Tydens die operasie het die Stad se drone-span regstreekse monitering uit die lug verskaf, wat beamptes op die grond in staat gestel het om die verdagtes se bewegings op te spoor. Die operasie is afgesluit met die suksesvolle arrestasie van al vyf verdagtes,” lui die verklaring.
Die Stad se Burgemeesterskomiteelid vir Veiligheid en Sekuriteit, JP Smith, sê hy het in Maart met die sake rolspelers en operasionele personeel in die gebied vergader om die voortdurende uitdaging smash-and-grab voorvalle te bespreek.
“Ek wil die SAPD en die Stad se wetstoepassing-agentskappe prys vir die vordering vir hulle werk wat gelei het tot die arrestasies,” het Smith gesê.

Drones help police to arrest five suspects
Breakthrough against smash-and-grabs
CRIME SCENE: Elsies River, Cape Town: Law enforcement authorities have made a major breakthrough in their fight against smash-and-grab criminals when they arrested five suspects.
The successful intelligence-driven operation to arrest the suspects included the City of Cape Town Law Enforcement and Metro Police Departments, the South African Police Service (SAPS) and drone surveillance technology.
A statement released by the City said following multiple incidents over the last few weeks, intelligence teams analysed available data and reviewed CCTV footage to identify and profile the suspects.
“SAPS initiated an operation with the City’s departments and investigators secured warrants of arrest and launched a coordinated joint operation to apprehend those involved.
“During the operation, the City’s drone team provided real-time aerial surveillance, enabling officers on the ground to track the suspects’ movements. Overall, the operation concluded with the successful arrest of all five suspects,” said the statement.
The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, said in March he met with the local improvement district, business owners, and operational staff in the area to discuss the ongoing challenge they experience with smash-and-grab incidents.
“I want to commend SAPS and City enforcement agencies for making progress on this matter by securing these arrests.
“The result highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing, inter-agency cooperation, and the use of advanced technology in supporting crime prevention and suspect apprehension efforts,’ said Smith.
The public is reminded to report emergencies, or any suspicious and/or criminal activities, by calling the Public Emergency Communication Centre on 021 480 7700 or logging by-law and traffic-related complaints using the Safety and Security add-on to the City App.

Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens het ‘n beroep op die publiek gedoen om die 107-noodnommer te gebruik, aangesien hulle tegniese probleme met die 10111-nommer ondervind.
Volgens die SAPD ondervind Telkom probleme met sy lyn na sy sy sentrum in Maitland, Kaapstad, en geniet dit tans aandag.
“Op hierdie stadium is die oorsaak nog nie deur die diensverskaffer bepaal nie.
“Intussen word gemeenskappe versoek om die 107-noodnommer te gebruik, wat mense aan die 10111-nommer sal verbind. Alternatiewelik kan lede van die publiek hul naaste polisiestasie kontak vir hulp.”
Die SAPD het gesê hulle sal die publiek op hoogte hou van sake.
Public asked to make use of 107 emergency number
10111 call centre down
UPDATE! The telephone lines to Maitland 10111 Call Centre have been restored and are fully operational.
THE South African Police Service have appealed to the public to make use of the 107 emergency number as they are experiencing technical issues with the 10111 number.
According to SAPS the call centre in Maitland, Cape Town had a Telkom line breakage, was was receiving attention.
“At this stage, the source of the breakage has not yet been determined by the relevant service provider.
“In the interim, communities are urged to make use of the 107 emergency number, which will connect callers to the 10111 call centre. Alternatively, members of the public may contact their nearest police station for assistance.”
SAPS said it would provide regular updates on the progress.
Illegal gun and ammunition found after shots fired
Police chase down alleged gunman
CRIME SCENE: Eldorado Park, Gauteng: A high speed chase here has ended in the recovery of an illegal firearm and the arrest of one suspect.
Eldorado Park Crime Prevention members and Gauteng Traffic Officers arrested the 34-year-old suspect on Monday, 31 August 2026 at about 22:00.
It is reported that members were performing crime prevention duties in Heatherlands Street, Extension 4, Eldorado Park, when they heard multiple gunshots.
Upon approaching the direction of the gunshots, members noticed a blue Toyota Cross SUV speeding off, said the South African Police Service (SAPS).
“Members gave chase with blue lights and sirens. The vehicle failed to stop, and a chase ensued for approximately five minutes until Pennsylvania Street, Extension 7, Eldorado Park, where the vehicle was brought to a stop,” said SAPS
The police found a 9mm Canik pistol , with two magazines, one empty and one containing one live round, in the driver’s possession. He allegedly could not produce any documentation or licence for the firearm.
He was arrested and the firearm seized.

Two suspects arrested, released on warning
Online snake trading bitten
CRIME SCENE: Delareyville, North-West Province: Two suspects who allegedly attempted to trade only in a snake, have been released on a warning.
The Sannieshof Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit (STESU), the North West Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (DEDECT) and the Wildlife Crime Information Network (WCIN) worked in collaboration to arrest the two.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) the operation followed information received about a person who allegedly advertised a live Southern African Python for sale at R5 000 on a private social media platform.
“Following the verification and sharing of the information, the alleged seller was traced to Delareyville. Two suspects were subsequently found in town, and one of them was carrying a blue bag. A search of the bag led to the discovery and recovery of the live Southern African Python.
“The two suspects were arrested for allegedly being in possession of a protected wild animal without the required permits and conducting a restricted activity without the necessary authorisation,” said SAPS.
The suspects appeared briefly before the Delareyville Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 31 August 2026 and were released on warning. The matter remains before the court.
The Provincial Commissioner of the North West, Lieutenant General Arthur Adams, said that SAPS in the North West continued to work closely with other law enforcement agencies and stakeholders to combat wildlife crime.
“Members of the community are encouraged to report suspicious activities involving the illegal possession, transportation or sale of protected wildlife to the police,” said Adams.
