CRIME SCENE: Worcester, Western Cape: A suspected gang shooting has led to the arrest of two people and discovery of three illegal firearms.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Gang-Unit first arrested a 32-year-old man on two attempted murder and firearm-related charges  at a flat in Roodewal on Tuesday, 8 September 2026.

The police followed up on intelligence after a shooting that occurred on Monday night. 

“They arrived at the suspect’s home at around 09:30 onTuesday and conducted a search, which led to the discovery of a .38 Special revolver with six rounds of ammunition and a home made zip gun buried in the ground.

“He was arrested for attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition,” said SAPS.

The police then proceeded to a house in Tambay Street, Roodewal, where they found a 9mm pistol without a serial number and eight rounds of ammunition. A 32-year-old female suspect was arrested here for possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
