Police find several vehicles, arrest 24-year-old
Hijackings traced to Mandalay
CRIME SCENE: Mandalay, Cape Town: Information about a vehicle hijacked in Harare, Khayelitsa has led police to several other cars linked to hijackings.
Members of the South African Police Service Flying Squad, in collaboration with Crime Intelligence, recovered six stolen vehicles and arrested a 24-year-old male suspect in Mandalay on Thursday night, 10 September 2026.
According to SAPS, the team acted on intelligence and went to a residential property in Dickens Drive, Mandalay, where they found a Toyota Starlet that was hijacked in Harare recently.
“They proceeded to a second address in Melderson Road and found four VW Polo vehicles and a Toyota Hilux. The Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) were tampered with, and some had been removed.
“Upon further probing, police discovered that some of the vehicles were linked to cases of hijackings that were reported at Cape Town Central, Woodstock and Muizenberg police stations between July and September 2026.
“The suspect will appear before the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 14 September 2026,” said SAPS.

MISDAADTONEEL: Paarl, Wes-Kaap: ’n Polisiekonstabel wat na bewering dwelms in ’n pakkie skyfies probeer wegsteek het, is saam met sy pa gearresteer.
Die 26-jarige konstabel en sy pa sal Maandag, 14 September 2026, in die Paarlse landdroshof verskyn.
Volgens die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) was die twee verdagtes op pad na Worcester toe hulle deur die Paarl-polisie voorgekeer is nadat hulle inligting oor beweerde dwelmaktiwiteit ontvang het.
“Die voertuig is deursoek en ’n dwelm-hond het dwelms in ’n verseëlde pakkie skyfies uitgesnuffel. Daar is 30 gram Tik en 15 gram kokaïen in die pakkie chips ontdek. Albei verdagtes is vir die besit van dwelms gearresteer.
“Die bestuur van die Wes-Kaapse SAPD verwelkom die arrestasie en verseker die publiek hulle is daartoe verbind om misdaad in die polisie uit te wis,” het die SAPD gesê.

Cop and dad nabbed for drugs
CRIME SCENE: Paarl, Western Cape: A police constable who allegedly tried to hide drugs in a packet of chips has been arrested with his father.
The 26-year-old constable and his father will appear before the Paarl Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 14 September 2026.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) the two suspects were on their way to Worcester when they were intercepted by Paarl police, who had received intelligence about suspected drug activity.
“The vehicle was searched and a narcotics detection dog detected drugs in a sealed packet of chips. Inside were 30 grams of crystal meth (Tik) and 15 grams of cocaine. Both suspects were arrested for possession of drugs.
“Western Cape SAPS management welcomes the arrest and assures the public of its commitment to rooting out criminality within the organisation,” said SAPS.
