CRIME Scene: Uitsig, Cape Town: A 13-year-old boy has been shot and killed, allegedly by a security guard.

A Western Cape police media liaison officer, Constable Ndakhe Gwala, said the incident occurred on Friday, 11 September 2026 at a church premises in Belhar Railroad at about 16.30.

“According to reports, three boys were playing in the premises when a private security officer fired shots, fatally wounding one of them. The 13-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound on his back and succumbed to the injuries on the scene.

“A 58-year-old male suspect was arrested and will appear in court on Monday 14 September 2026,” said Gwala.

Ravensmead detectives are investigating  a case of murder.
