MISDAADTONEEL: Crawford, Kaapstad: ‘n Verdagte is Woensdagaand, 7 Oktober 2026, tydens ‘n huisroof-voorval doodgeskiet en nog een gewond.

Sersant Wesley Twigg, ‘n woordvoerder vir die Wes-Kaapse polisie, het gesê die voorval het omstreeks 21:15 in Rokeby-weg, Crawford plaasgevind.

“Volgens berigte was die huismense tuis toe onbekende verdagtes, gewapen met vuurwapens, die huis binnenkom en kontant eis. Die slagoffers is vasgebind.

“Skote is afgevuur en een verdagte het gesterf. ‘n Verdagte wat ook gewond is, is later gearresteer en is onder polisiebewaking in die hospitaal. Die omstandighede rondom die voorval word deur die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens ondersoek,” het Twigg gesê.

Onbevestigde berigte dui daarop dat die verdagtes maskers gedra en dat die gewonde man by die Astron-vulstasie in Belgravia-straat gearresteer is.

Skieters teiken 23-jarige en haas weg van toneel

Man helderoordag vermoor

MISDAADTONEEL: Retreat, Kaapstad: ‘n Man is in ‘n straat net agter die Retreat-daghospitaal doodgeskiet.

Die voorval het helderoordag Donderdagoggend, 8 Oktober 2026, omstreeks 11:00 in Blagden-straat plaasgevind terwyl baie mense die hospitaal besoek het.

Wesley Twigg, ‘n woordvoerder vir die Wes-Kaapse polisie, het gesê Steenberg-polisie het op ‘n klagte van ‘n skietery reageer en met hul aankoms op die toneel, ‘n man met skietwonde aan sy liggaam gevind.

“Die slagoffer, ‘n 23-jarige man, is deur mediese personeel op die toneel dood verklaar. Volgens inligting is die slagoffer deur twee verdagtes genader wat hom geskiet en van  die toneel gevlug het.

“Daar word vermoed dat die motief vir die aanval bendeverwant is. Steenberg speurders ondersoek ‘n moordsaak,” het Twigg gesê.

Five arrested as police uncover manufacturing facility

Multi-million drug lab bust

CRIME SCENE: Krugersdorp, Gauteng: The South African Police Service (SAPS) Crime Intelligence at National Head Office and the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations (DPCI) has uncovered a multi-million-rand drug manufacturing laboratory at a farm in Krugersdorp, Gauteng.

Police have discovered quantities of Mandrax and ecstasy tablets at the suspected drug manufacturing laboratory.

Five South African nationals who were found at the premises have been arrested.

Further assessments and investigations are underway.


Suspects fire multiple shots in broad daylight

Man shot dead near hospital

CRIME SCENE: Retreat, Cape Town: A man has been shot and killed in a road just behind the Retreat Day Hospital.

The incident happened in broad daylight on Thursday morning, 8 October 2026 at about 11:00 while many people visited the hospital.

Wesley Twigg, a media liaison officer for the Western Cape police, said Steenberg police responded to a complaint of the shooting and when they arrived on the scene they found a man with gunshot wounds to his body. 

“The 23-year-old victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. According to reports the victim was approached by two suspects who shot him before fleeing the scene. The motive for the attack is believed to be gang related.

“Steenberg detectives are investigating a murder case,” said Twigg.

Prosper operations bring success in tackling crime

Police seize fake gun, drugs

CRIME SCENE: Cape Town: The police have made further inroads in tackling crime, with Operation Prosper members seizing an imitation firearm, ammunition, and drugs during intelligence‑driven operations on Wednesday, 7 October 2026.

In Surrey Estate, Manenberg, officers searched a targeted premises and confiscated an imitation firearm along with 52 rounds of ammunition. A 24‑year‑old man was arrested for illegal possession of ammunition and an imitation firearm. 

In Queen Guinevere, Camelot, police arrested a 26‑year‑old man after discovering 50 mandrax tablets inside a house. He faces charges of drug possession.

In Shire Street, Mfuleni, officers followed up on information about drugs at a residence. A search uncovered 15 packets of Tik, two and a half mandrax tablets, and 16 packets of cocaine. A 45‑year‑old man was arrested for drug possession.


Fourth accused sentenced to 36 years

Three get life for 7 murders

FROM THE COURTS: Four men whose reign of terror resulted in the death of seven people in Clarke Estate, received lengthy sentences in the Western Cape High Court.

The Western Cape Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi, meanwhile welcomed the sentencing of Alfonzo Hendricks (33), Aubrey Rooi (32), Jade Taylor (26) and Roderick Daniel (22) on Wednesday, 7 October 2026.

The quartet was arrested in 2020, following a series of gang-related murders in Clark Estate from December 2019 until February 2020. 

During the spate of shootings, a total of seven victims, two of which were women, llost their lives. One of their shootings resulted in a triple murder. 

The cases were assigned to Detective Sergeant Theo Van Wyk of the Elsies River  police, who quickly made a breakthrough and arrested the four accused. They remained in custody for the duration of the trial, after bail was successfully opposed.

After a lengthy trial, the accused were convicted of seven murders, robbery aggravated and firearm related offences. The first three accused were sentenced to several life terms and , accused number four will serve 36 years in prison.

Dyantyi lauded the investigating officer as well as the prosecuting team. 

“The sentencing comes at a crucial time when the Western Cape province grapples with mass shootings, thereby sending a strong message to perpetrators that criminality will not go unpunished and any violent crime will be met with the full might of the law.”


'Masked' gunmen storm house in Crawford

Home invasion suspect killed

CRIME SCENE: Crawford, Cape Town: A house robbery suspect was shot and killed and another one wounded during a home invasion on Wednesday night, 7 October 2026.

Sergeant Wesley Twigg, a Western Cape police media liaison officer, said the incident happened at about 21:15, in Rokeby Road.

“According to reports the victims were at home when unknown suspects entered the house armed with firearms and demanded cash. The victims were tied up. 

“Shots were fired and one suspect was fatally wounded. A suspect who was also wounded was later arrested and is in hospital under police guard. The circumstances surrounding the incident are subject to an investigation by the South African Police Service,” said Twigg.

Lansdowne police registered a house robbery case for investigation.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the suspects were armed and that the wounded man was later apprehended at the Astron garage in Belgravia.

Cops foil robbery, suspects open fire on them

Four suspected robbers shot dead

CRIME SCENE: Kwadwesi, Eastern Cape: Four suspected robbers have died following a shootout with members of the South African Police Service (SAPS).

According to SAPS, the swift action by the Motherwell TRT Unit disrupted a suspected robbery plan and led to four fatalities in a subsequent exchange of gunfire with police. 

“The incident occurred on Tuesday evening at about 20:00, 6 October 2026 in the Kwadwesi/Kwazakele policing precincts. Police members who were patrolling in Mtshekisani Street noticed a suspicious vehicle. 

“As they approached, the occupants allegedly opened fire and police fired back. During the shoot out, four men were shot and declared deceased on the scene. No police members were injured,” said SAPS.

Police recovered two unlicensed 9mm Norinco firearms, both without serial numbers, and a toy gun. The Kwadwesi police are investigating the case. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) will investigate the four counts of Inquest.


Pastor wanted, wife nabbed after body found in shallow grave

Mom raped, baby killed after ‘ritual’

CRIME SCENE: Hennops River, Gauteng: Police have launched a manhunt for a pastor accused of raping a 43‑year‑old mother and murdering her four‑month‑old baby.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) the baby’s body was discovered in a shallow grave near the Hennops River on Wednesday, 7 October 2026.

SAPS said according to preliminary reports, the woman accompanied the pastor and his wife to the river along the R511 road for a ritual. 

“The pastor’s wife allegedly stayed behind with the infant while he and the mother walked towards the river. It is alleged that the woman was raped and tied up during this time.

“The victim managed to free herself and sought help at a nearby construction site. A private security company was alerted and police were called to the scene.”

A multidisciplinary team — including Crime Scene Management, Search and Rescue, Detectives, Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) detectives, and drone operators — was immediately deployed to search for the missing baby and locate the pastor and his wife.

The pastor’s 24‑year‑old wife was later found and questioned. She led investigators to a shallow grave where the infant’s body was discovered.

Police have opened cases of kidnapping, rape, and murder.
