CRIME SCENE: Bethelsdorp, Eastern Cape: Unholy thieves have made off with a solid copper church bell.

Now the Bethelsdorp police are appealing to the community for information following the theft.
According to the police the church was locked and everything was just fine at 12:00 on Sunday, 27 September 2026.
But things took a turn for the worst at about 15:00 on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, when the keyholder arrived and discovered that the bell had been stolen. A theft case has been opened, and the investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information or who is approached to buy or sell the bell, is asked to contact Sgt Kechia Erasmus on 072 388 7202, call Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or submit information via the MySAPS-App anonymously.

Jongste! Die Knysna-munisipaliteit het in ‘n verklaring bevestig dat twee senior amptenare en ‘n voormalige raadslid deur die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens gearresteer is vir ondervraging. “Die munisipaliteit het op hierdie stadium geen verdere inligting of kommentaar nie,” lui die verklaring.
MISDAADTONEEL: Suid-Kaap: Die Taakspan vir Politieke Moorde (PKTT) het ’n burgemeester, munisipale bestuurder en hoof- finansiële beampte van ’n munisipaliteit gearresteer in verband met beweerde korrupsie rakende ’n sekuriteitsdienskontrak.

Volgens die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) het hulle ontvang oor bewerings dat daar van ’n sakeman, aan wie ’n sekuriteitsdienskontrak toegeken is, kickbacks geëis is in ruil vir die voortsetting van die kontrak.
“Daar word beweer dat die sakeman reeds honderde duisende rande betaal het uit vrees dat sy kontrak beëindig sou word,” het die SAPD gesê.
Al drie staan tereg op aanklagte van korrupsie en moet op Maandag, 5 Oktober 2026, in die hof verskyn.

UPDATE! The Knysna Municipality has confirmed in a statement that two senior officials and a former councillor were taken into custody by the South African Police Service for questioning earlier this afternoon. “The Municipality has no further information or comment at this time,” it said.
CRIME SCENE: Southern Cape: The Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) have arrested a Mayor, a Municipal Manager and a Chief Financial Officer of a municipality in connection with alleged corruption relating to a security services contract.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) the arrests follow information received by the police regarding allegations that a businessman who had been awarded a security services contract was being solicited for kickbacks in exchange for the continuation of the contract.
“It is alleged that the businessman had already paid hundreds of thousands of rands out of fear that his security services contract would be terminated,” said SAPS.
All three face charges of corruption and are due in court on Monday, 05 October 2026.

CRIME SCENE: Khayelitsha, Cape Town: In a scene straight out of a movie, a high-speed car chase has led to the recovery of a hijacked vehicle and arrest of two suspects.

A man and woman were arrested this week by members of the South African Police Service’s (SAPS) Anti-Hijacking Unit following the car chase that also led to the discovery of two cellular telephones and an imitation firearm.
SAPS said the Unit spotted a charcoal Hyundai with a flagged registration in Lawulo Road, Khayelitsha, and gave chase.
“The suspect sped away until the members ultimately caught him at Nothobile Street, Khayelitsha. A 24-year-old male suspect got out of the car and pointed an imitation firearm at the police.
“They retaliated, resulting in him sustaining bullet wounds to his upper body. He was admitted to the nearest hospital for medical care and is under police guard. A female passenger, aged 23, was apprehended,” said SAPS.
Both face charges of possession of a hijacked vehicle, possession of stolen property, pointing of a firearm and reckless and negligent driving.

Die Bethelsdorp-polisie doen nou ‘n beroep op die gemeenskap vir inligting na aanleiding van die diefstal van die koperklok.
Volgens die polisie was die kerk gesluit en alles nog reg om 12:00 op Sondag, 27 September 2026.
Die situasie het egter verander toe die kerk se sleutelhouer, omstreeks 15:00 Dinsdag, 29 September 2026, opdaag en ontdek dat die klok nie meer op sy gewone plek hang nie. ‘n Diefstalklag is aanhangig gemaak en die ondersoek duur voort.
Enigeen met inligting, of wat genader word om die klok te koop of verkoop, word versoek om sers. Kechia Erasmus by 072 388 7202 te kontak of Stop Misdaad by 08600 10111 te skakel, of inligting anoniem via die MySAPS-toepassing deur te gee.

JONGSTE! Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens het bevestig dat ‘n vrou wat ernstige skietwonde in die skietvoorval in Lentegeur opgedoen het, aan haar beserings beswyk het. Dit bring die dodetal op vier te staan in die jongste massa skietvoorval wat Suid-Afrika die afgelope paar weke geruk het.

Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) in die Wes-Kaap het nou ‘n soektog van stapel gestuur na vier verdagtes wat betrokke was by die skietvoorval in Lentegeur, Mitchells Plain, laat Woensdagaand, 30 September 2026.
Die polisie het omstreeks 23:15 op ‘n skietery in Blombos-straat reageer.
“Met hul aankoms het lede op twee mans met skietwonde afgekom. ‘n Derde man, wat ook skietwonde opgedoen het, is in Eislebenweg gevind nadat hy blykbaar van die skuts gevlug het. Al drie is op die toneel dood verklaar.
“‘n Vrou wat ernstige skietwonde opgedoen het, is vir mediese behandeling na die hospitaal vervoer,” het die SAPD gesê.
Vier gewapende verdagtes, wat in ‘n wit Nissan Almera met donker vensters gery het, het na bewering die slagoffers genader, op hulle losgebrand en van die toneel gevlug.
Die motief vir die skietery is nog nie amptelik vasgestel nie en vorm deel van die voortdurende ondersoek. Speurders van die Anti-Bende-eenheid ondersoek die voorval.
Volgens die SAPD volg die ondersoekspan alle beskikbare inligting op en kyk hulle na kringtelevisie- (CCTV) beelde en soek getuies wat kan help om die verdagtes te identifiseer.
Die Wes-Kaapse provinsiale polisiekommissaris, luitenant-generaal Sizakhele Dyantyi, het sy kommer uitgespreek oor skietery en ‘n beroep op ondersoekers gedoen om die verantwoordelikes vinnig te identifiseer en te arresteer.

3 men killed, woman wounded in Lentegeur shooting

UPDATE! The South African Police Service have confirmed that a woman who sustained serious gunshot wounds in the Lentegeur shooting had died from her injuries. That brings the number to four people who have died in the latest mass shooting incident that has rocked South Africa in the last few weeks.
CRIME SCENE: Mitchells Plain, Cape Town: Three people have been shot and killed and one wounded in yet another Cape Town bloodbath.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Western Cape have launched a manhunt for four suspects involved in the shooting incident in Lentegeur, Mitchells Plain, late on Wednesday evening, 30 September 2026.
Police responded to reports of a shooting in Blombos Street at approximately 23:15.
“On arrival, members found two deceased men with gunshot wounds. A third man, who had also sustained gunshot wounds, was found in Eisleben Road after apparently fleeing from the shooters. He was declared deceased.
“A woman who sustained serious gunshot wounds during the incident was transported to hospital for medical treatment,” said SAPS.
It is alleged that four armed suspects, travelling in a white Nissan Almera with tinted windows, approached the victims and opened fire before fleeing the area.
The motive for the shooting has not yet been officially established and forms part of the ongoing investigation. Anti-Gang Unit detectives are investigating the incident.
According to SAPST the investigative team are following up on all available information and are also canvassing the area for possible CCTV footage and witnesses who may assist in identifying the suspects.
The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi, expressed concern over the loss of life and called on investigators to swiftly identify and apprehend those responsible.

Bus driver nabbed for dagga
CRIME SCENE: Prince Albert, Western Cape: The South African Police Service (SAPS) have arrested a bus driver after dagga was discovered on a long distance bus.

According to SAPS a vehicle checkpoint at Prince Albert resulted in the seizure of 2 057 grams of dagga on Thursday, 1 October 2026.
“Members of the Flying Squad searched a long-distance bus travelling from Mthatha to Cape Town and found a bag containing the dagga with an estimated street value of R20 570. One of the bus drivers, aged 48-years, was arrested on the spot for dealing in dagga,” said SAPS.
