Twee kritiek; verdagtes nog op vrye voet

MISDAADTONEEL: Nyanga, Kaapstad: Vier mans is Dinsdagoggend, 2 Junie 2026 doodgeskiet en nog twee ernstig gewond in ‘n voorval wat dalk verband hou met die taxi bedryf.

Volgens ‘n media skakelbeampte vir die Wes-Kaapse polisie, kolonel Andrè Traut, dui voorlopige verslae daarop dat onbekende verdagtes omstreeks 08:30 op ‘n groep individue op die hoek van Moonwood-rylaan en Sheffield-weg losgebrand het.

“Vier mans, wie se ouderdomme nog nie bekend is nie, is op die toneel dood verklaar. Twee ander mans is in ‘n kritieke toestand in die hospitaal opgeneem. Die verdagtes het van die toneel gevlug en is nog nie geïdentifiseer nie,” het Traut gesê.

Speurders verbonde aan die taxi-eenheid vir provinsiale ernstige geweldsmisdade (PEG) volg alle beskikbare leidrade om die verdagtes aan te keer. Forensiese kundiges is besig op die misdaadtoneel en bewyse in te samel as deel van die ondersoek. Bykomende polisie is in die gebied ontplooi om veiligheid te verhoog en stabiliteit te handhaaf, het hy bygevoeg.

Four killed in Nyanga mass shooting

CRIME SCENE: Nyanga, Cape Town: The South African Police Service (SAPS) is investigating a fatal shooting incident believed to be taxi-related after four men were killed in Nyanga on Tuesday morning, 2 June 2026.

According to a media liaison officer for the Western Cape SAPS, Colonel Andrè Traut, preliminary reports indicate that at approximately 08:30, unknown suspects opened fire on a group of individuals at the corner of Moonwood Drive and Sheffield Road.

“Four men, whose ages are yet to be determined, sustained gunshot wounds and were declared dead on the scene.

“Two other men were admitted to hospital in a critical condition. The suspects fled the scene and have not yet been identified,” said Traut

Detectives attached to the Provincial Serious Violent Crimes (SVC) Taxi Unit are pursuing all available leads to identify and apprehend those responsible, while forensic experts are processing the crime scene and gathering evidence as part of the ongoing investigation. Additional police deployments have been dispatched to the area to heighten security and maintain stability, he added

MISDAADTONEEL: Elsiesrivier, Kaapstad: Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) het Vrydagoggend 29 Mei 2026 blitsvinnig reageer om ‘n verdagte in ‘n poging tot moord saak agter tralies te sit.

‘n Media skakelbeampte van die Wes-Kaapse polisie, Kaptein Frederick C. Van Wyk, het gesê ‘n skietvoorval het in 12de-Laan, Leonsdale, plaasgevind.

“Die slagoffer is na ‘n nabygeleë hospitaal gehaas vir behandeling. Terwyl speurders op die toneel was, is inligting ingesamel en die 37-jarige verdagte is geïdentifiseer.

“Lede van Operasie Lockdown 3 is versoek om te help die verdagte opspoor. Die inligting is opgevolg en lede het na ‘n adres in Nassau Court, 14de Laan, Leonsdale, gegaan waar die verdagte gearresteer is.

“Die vuurwapen wat vir die misdaad gebruik is, is nog nie teruggevind nie,” het Van Wyk gesê.

Bonteheuwel: Op Saterdag 30 Mei 2026 om 01:30 het Operasie Lockdown 3 lede ‘n 41-jarige man by ‘n huis in Pendoringstraat gearresteer vir die besit van ‘n ongelisensieerde vuurwapen, ammunisie en dwelms.

Volgens Van Wyk was hulle besig met ‘n stop-en-deursoek-operasie toe hulle die verdagte man oplet. Hulle het hom voorgekeer en deursoek en in besit van ‘n 9 mm-pistool met nege rondtes ammunisie, drie Mandrax-tablette, drie halwe Mandrax-tablette, fyngemaakte Mandrax, sewe sakkies Tik kontant betrap.

Hy het hom teen die arrestasie verset, wat gelei het tot ‘n besering aan sy arm. Hy is na ‘n nabygeleë hospitaal geneem vir mediese behandeling en later by die Bishop Lavis polisiestasie ingeboek.

CRIME SCENE: Elsies River, Cape Town: The quick reaction of the South African Police Service (SAPS) led to the arrest of an attempted murder suspect shortly after the crime was committed on Friday morning, 29 May 2026.

Western Cape police media liaison officer, Captain Frederick C. Van Wyk, said a shooting incident occurred in 12th Avenue, Leonsdale.

“The victim was shot and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. While detectives were on the scene information were gathered and the 37-year-old suspect was identified.

“Members of Operation Lockdown 3 were requested for assistance in tracking the suspect. The information was followed up and members went to an address at Nassau Court, 14th Avenue, Leonsdale, where the suspect was identified and arrested.

“The firearm that was used in the commission of crime is yet to be recovered,” said Van Wyk.

Bonteheuwel: On Saturday, 30 May 2026 at 01:30 Operation Lockdown 3 arrested a 41-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and drugs at a house in Pendoring Street.

According to Van Wyk they were conducting stop and search operation when they saw the suspicious looking male. They stopped and searched him and found him in possession of a 9mm pistol with nine rounds of ammunition, three Mandrax tablets, three half Mandrax tablets, crushed Mandrax, seven sachets of Tik and cash. He resisted arrest which led to an injury on his arm. He was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention and later detained at Bishop Lavis SAPS.

MISDAADTONEEL: Hanover Park, Kaapstad: Drie mense is vanoggend, Maandag 1 Junie in Hanover Park geskiet.

Een van die gewondes het met homself en die ander twee na die hospital gejaag, maar sy passasiers het dit nie gemaak nie. Die voorval het in Johndownweg gebeur.

Volgens konstabel Ndakhe Gwalao van die Wes-Kaapse polisie se mediakantoor het die  Philippi polisie op ‘n klag by ‘n hospitaal gereageer.

“Mmet hul aankoms is hulle in kennis gestel van drie slagoffers van ‘n skietery. Volgens berigte het die slagoffers skietwonde in Johndown, Hanover Park, opgedoen. Een van hulle het daarin geslaag om na die hospitaal te ry, maar die ander twee slagoffers, ‘n man en ‘n vrou, het aan hul is met hul aankoms dood verklaar.

“Die polisie het twee aanklagte van moord en ‘n poging tot moord oopgemaak. Die omstandighede rondom die voorval word ondersoek en geen arrestasie is nog gemaak nie,” het Gwalao gesê.

CRIME SCENE: Hanover Park, Cape Town: The first day of June brought blood and tragedy to Hanover Park.

Three people were shot in Johndown Road, on Moonday morning, 1 June 2026.  

According to Constable Ndakhe Gwalao of the Western Cape police media office, Philippi police responded to a complaint from a hospital and upon arrival, they were informed about three victims of a shooting.

“According to reports, the victims sustained gunshot wounds at Johndown, Hanover Park. One of them managed to drive to the hospital, but man and a woman succumbed to their injuries and were declared dead upon arrival.

“Police registered two counts of murder and an attempted murder case. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and no arrest has been made yet,” said Gwalao.

MISDAADTONEEL: Mitchells Plain, Kaapstad: Twee mans wat winkel toe gestap het in Tafelsig, het amper met hulle lewens geboet.

Volgens ‘n media skakelbeampte vir die Wes-Kaapse polisie, kaptein FC van Wyk, is die twee slagoffers Vrydag, 29 Mei 2026 om 20:00 deur ‘n onbekende man geskiet.

“Mitchells Plain SAPD-lede het ‘n klag ontvang van ‘n skietvoorval naby ‘n bushalte in Kilimanjaro-straat. Met hul aankoms het hulle twee slagoffers gevind, ‘n 28-jarige man met ‘n skietwond aan sy agterstewe en ‘n 26-jarige man met ‘n skietwond aan die rug.

“Volgens berigte was die slagoffers op pad na ‘n winkel toe ‘n verdagte twee skote op hulle afgevuur het. Hulle is na nabygeleë hospitale vervoer vir behandeling. Mitchells Plain-polisie het twee aanklagte van poging tot moord geregistreer.

“Die motief is vermoedelik bendeverwant,” het Van Wyk gesê.

CRIME SCENE: Mitchells Plain, Cape Town: A walk to the shop almost cost two men their lives in Tafelsig on Friday night.

According to a media liaison officer for the Western Cape police, Captain FC van Wyk, the two victims were shot by an unknown gunman on 29 May 2026 at 20:00.

“Mitchells Plain SAPS members received a complaint of a shooting incident in Kilimanjaro Street near a bus stop. On arrival they found two victims, a 28-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the buttocks and a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the lower back.

“According to reports the victims was walking to a shop, when a suspect fired two shots at them. They were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Mitchells Plain police registered two counts of attempted murder.

“Motive is believed to be gang related,” said Van Wyk.

MISDAADTONEEL: Mitchells Plain, Kaapstad: Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) het hul stryd teen misdaad verskerp met tegnologie om ‘n moordverdagte vas te trek.

Die Anti-bende en Drone-eenhede en die Suid-Afrikaanse Nasionale Weermag (SANDF), het in die vroeë oggendure van Saterdag, 30 Mei 2026, ‘n operasie in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain, uitgevoer teen die voortdurende bende konflik in die gebied.

Hulle het ‘n 35-jarige man gearresteer wat gesoek was vir twee moorde en twee pogings tot moord wat verband hou met ‘n voorval wat in Mei 2026 by ‘n huis in Linda Way, Tafelsig plaasgevind het. Die polisie het ook sy perseel deursoek en ‘n 12-kaliber Eskort haelgeweer, vier 12-kaliber rondtes en 17 geweer rondtes gevind. ‘n Klag van die onwettige besit van ‘n vuurwapen en ammunisie sal by die moord- en pogings tot moord-klagte gevoeg word.

BONTEHEUWEL: Op Vrydag 29 Mei 2026 het die polisie gereageer op ‘n klagte van twee verdagtes wat met vuurwapens in hul besit rondloop in die omgewing van Bramble- en Bracken-straat.

Die polisie het inligting opgevolg wat hulle na ‘n adres in Brisbane-straat gelei het. Hier het hulle die twee mans gevind, waarvan die een verdagte op ‘n vuurwapen op die bed gesit het. ‘n 41-jarige man is gearresteer vir die besit van ‘n ongelisensieerde vuurwapen en ammunisie.

Cops use drone to track suspect

CRIME SCENE: Mitchells Plain, Cape Town: The South African Police Service (SAPS) upped their fight against crime when they made use of technology to arrest a murder suspect.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, 30 May 2026, the Anti-Gang and Drone Units, in conjunction with the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) conducted an intelligence driven operation in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain, focusing on the ongoing gang conflict in the area.

They arrested a 35-year-old man for two murders and two attempted murders relating to an incident in May 2026 at a premises in Linda Way Tafelsig. The members also conducted a search at his premises and recovered a 12 Bore Escort shotgun, four 12 Bore rounds and 17 rifle rounds. A charge of illegal possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition will be added to the murder and attempted murder charges.

BONTEHEUWEL: On Friday 29 May 2026, the police reacted to a complaint of two suspects walking around with firearms in their possession in the vicinity of Bramble and Bracken Streets in Bonteheuwel.

Information led them to an address in Brisbane Street, where they found the two men. One suspect was sitting on top of a firearm on the bed. A 41-year-old male was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
