Driver killed in broad daylight
CRIME SCENE: Khayelitsha, Cape Town: A man has been shot and killed in broad daylight in Ilitha Park.
The South African Police Service in Lingelethu West responded to reports of a shooting at Ntlazane Street on Thursday, 10 September 2026 at about 12:30.
A Western Cape Police media liaison officer, Constable Ndakhe Gwala, said when police arrived at the scene they found a body of a yet to be identified man lying on the street with gunshot wounds.
“He was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. His Toyota Avanza was a few metres away and had a bullet hole on the driver’s door. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage,” said Gwala.

UIT DIE HOF: ‘n Man wat skuldig bevind is aan die moord op ‘n taxibestuurder en poging tot moord van ‘n passasier in Vrygrond naby Muizenberg, is deur die Wynberg-streekhof tot 18 jaar direkte gevangenisstraf gevonnis.

Die 29-jarige bestuurder het Vrydag, 4 November 2022 met sdy taxi vol passasiers vanaf Wynberg gery. Toe hy by ‘n stopteken in Vygrond-laan stilhou, is hy geskiet en noodlottig gewond. Een van die passasiers is ook gewond tydens die skietery.
Daar is ten tyde van die voorval berig dat daar konflik tussen lede van ‘n taxivereniging en ‘n bendegroep was.
Speurdersersant Patrick Mdokwana van die Taxigeweld-eenheid se flink speurwerk het daartoe gelei dat Bjorn Davids in November 2022 gearresteer is, Hy was vir die duur van die verhoor in aanhouding.
Davids is Woensdag, 9 September 2026, tot 15 jaar direkte gevangenisstraf vir moord en 10 jaar gevangenisstraf vir poging tot moord gevonnis, waarvan sewe jaar saam met die eerste aanklag sal loop. Hy is verder onbevoeg verklaar om ‘n vuurwapen te besit.

Taxi driver’s killer gets 18 years
FROM THE COURTS: The Wynberg Regional Court has handed down an 18‑year direct prison sentence to a man convicted of murdering a taxi driver and wounding a passenger in Vrygrond near Muizenberg.

The 29-year-old deceased was driving from Wynberg with a full load of passengers on Friday, 04 November 2022,
When he stopped at a stop sign in Vygrond Avenue he was shot and fatally wounded. One of the passengers also sustained injuries during the shooting.
It was reported at the time of the incident, there was an unresolved conflict between members of a taxi association and a gang.
The case docket was allocated to Detective Sergeant Patrick Mdokwana of the Taxi Violence Unit, who, through meticulous investigation, made a breakthrough. Bjorn Davids was arrested in November 2022 and remained in custody for the duration of the trial.
On Wednesday, 09 September 2026, Davids was sentenced to 15 years’ direct imprisonment for murder and 10 years’ imprisonment for attempted murder, of which seven years will run concurrently with count one.
He was further declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Police bust drug lab worth millions
UPDATE! Two foreign nationals are expected to appear before the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 11 September 2026 following their arrest in Erasmia for allegedly manufacturing illicit drugs.
The multidisciplinary team who arrested the two during a joint operation discovered a drug laboratory where the suspects were allegedly manufacturing Mandrax tablets to an estimated value of R100 million.
The police also discovered an alleged drug laboratory inside the premises where the suspects were about to manufacture crystal meth (Tik).
CRIME SCENE: Erasmia, Pretoria: Two foreign nationals have been arrested following the discovery of a multimillion rand clandestine Mandrax laboratory.

The arrests follow a joint operation by the Hakws’ South African Narcotics Bureau following and Crime Intelligence.
The Deputy National Commissioner for Policing, Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili, was on the scene soon after the discovery of the laboratory.

MISDAADTONEEL: Worcester, Wes-Kaap: ‘n Skietery hier het gelei tot die arrestasie van twee mense en die ontdekking van drie onwettige vuurwapens.

Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) se Anti-Bende-Eenheid het Dinsdag, 8 September 2026 ‘n 32-jarige man by ‘n woonstel in Roodewal gearresteer op twee aanklagte van poging tot moord sowel as vuurwapen-verwante klagte .
Die polisie het intelligensie opgevolg na ‘n skietery Maandagaand.
“Lede van die Anti-Bende-Eenheid het Dinsdag omstreeks 09:30 by die verdagte se huis opgedaag en dit deursoek, wat gelei het tot die ontdekking van ‘n .38 Special-rewolwer met ses rondtes ammunisie en ‘n tuisgemaakte zip gun wat in die grond begrawe was.
“Hy is gearresteer vir poging tot moord, besit van n ongelisensieerde vuurwapen, besit van ‘n verbode vuurwapen en onwettige besit van ammunisie,” het die SAPD gesê.
Die polisie het toe na ‘n huis in Tambaystraat, Roodewal, gegaan waar hulle ‘n 9 mm-pistool sonder ‘n reeksnommer en agt rondtes ammunisie gevind het. ‘n 32-jarige vrou is hier gearesteer vir besit van ‘n verbode vuurwapen en onwettige besit van ammunisie
