IPID probes Glencairn shooting
CRIME SCENE: Glencairn, Cape Town: A shooting incident occured in Glencairn Heights, near Simons Town on Saturday, 11 July 2026.

According to reports the South African Police (SAPS) National Intervention Unit was on the scene attempting to arrest a murder suspect.
Details remain sketchy, but it was reported a man died and a woman arrested during the incident.
A media liaison officer for the Western Cape police, Captain FC Van Wyk, said the incident is being investigated by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).

MISDAADTONEEL: Grassy Park: Die Stad Kaapstad se verkeerspolisie en die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) het drie verdagtes gearresteer wat vermoedelik betrokke is by voertuig jamming in die suidelike voorstede.

JP Smith, die Stad se burgemeesterskomiteelid vir Veiligheid en Sekuriteit, sê inligting is Vrydagmiddag, 10 Julie 2026 ontvang oor ‘n voertuig wat na bewering gekoppel is aan jamming voorvalle.
“Beamptes van ons verkeersdienste, ondersteun deur die SAPD se Blitspatrollie, het die voertuig vinnig opgespoor en ‘n taktiese operasie uitgevoer in die parkeer area van Nando’s op die hoek van Prince George-rylaan en 5de-laan, Grassy Park.
“Die voertuig is deursoek en jamming toestel, skootrekenaar, drie selfone en ander items wat vermoedelik gesteel is, is gevind,” het Smith gesê.
Die drie verdagtes, van Pelican Park, Philippi en Gugulethu, is op die toneel gearresteer en aan die Grassy Park SAPD oorhandig vir verdere ondersoek.
“Welgedaan aan almal wat betrokke was by nog ‘n suksesvolle operasie wat help om ons gemeenskappe veiliger te maak,” het Smith gesê.

Vehicle jammers taken down
CRIME SCENE: Grassy Park: The City of Cape Town’s traffic officers and the South African Police Service arrested three suspects believed to be involved in remote vehicle jamming in the Southern Suburbs.

JP Smith, the City’s Mayoral Committee member for Safety and Security said information was circulated on Friday afternoon, 10 July 2026, about a suspicious vehicle allegedly linked to remote jamming incidents.
“Officers from our traffic services, supported by SAPS Flying Squad, quickly located the vehicle and conducted a tactical takedown in the parking area of Nando’s at the corner of Prince George Drive and 5th Avenue, Grassy Park.
“A search of of the vehicle uncovered a remote jamming device, laptop, three cell phones and other items believed to have been stolen,” said Smith.
The three suspects, from Pelikan Park, Philippi and Gugulethu, were arrested on the scene and handed over to Grassy Park SAPS for further investigation.
“Well done to everyone involved in another successful operation that helps make our communities safer,” said Smith.

MISDAADTONEEL: Khayelitsha, Kaapstad: Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) het twee mans in hegtenis geneem vir die onwettige besit van vuurwapens.

Volgens die SAPD het ‘n operasie wat deur lede van Operasie Prosper op Donderdag 9 Julie 2026 in Khayelitsha uitgevoer is, gelei to die arrestasie van ‘n 21-jarige man in Memzistraat, Site B, nadat ‘n vuurwapen met agt rondtes ammunisie in sy besit gevind is.
In ‘n aparte voorval is ‘n 34-jarige man gearresteer vir die besit van ‘n ongelisensieerde vuurwapen en ammunisie by sy woning in Krwacastraat, Site B. Lwandle, Strand:
‘n 25-jarige man van die Ethembeni-informele nedersetting is gearresteer vir die besit van dwelms nadat hy met 15 halwe Mandrax-tablette en 58 sakkies Tik in sy besit gevind is tydens ‘n stop-en-deursoek-operasie.

Two men behind bars for guns
CRIME SCENE: Khayelitsha, Cape Town: The South African Police Service (SAPS) have arrested two men for the illegal possession of firearms.

According to SAPS, an operation carried out by members of of Operation Prosper on Thursday, 9 July 2026 in Khayelitsha resulted in a 21-year-old man being apprehended in Memzi Street, Site B following the discovery of a firearm and eight rounds of ammunition that were found in his possession.
In a separate incident, a 34-year-old man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at his residence at Krwaca Street, Site B.
Lwandle, Strand: A 25-year-old man from the Ethembeni informal settlement is in police custody for possession of drugs after he was found with 15 half Mandrax tablets and 58 sachets of tik in his possession during a stop and search operation.

NASIONAAL: Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) het ‘n man gearresteer wat in die Verenigde Koninkryk (VK) gesoek word vir die moord op sy vrou en twee dogters.

Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma is Vrydag 10 Julie 2026 in Kensington, Johannesburg, gearresteer na ‘n intensiewe operasie waarby die SAPD se Interpol Nasionale Sentrale Buro, Misdaadintelligensie en die Georganiseerde Misdaad-ondersoekeenheid betrokke was.
Volgens die SAPD is Tshuma deur owerhede in die VK gesoek in verband met die moord op sy vrou, Nothabo Zandile Tshuma (42), en hul twee dogters, Natalie (15) en Nala (5), wie se liggame by hul huis naby Bedford ontdek is.
Deur vinnige operasionele koördinering en intelligensie-geleide polisiëring het SAPD-lede die voortvlugtige suksesvol opgespoor.
Die Waarnemende Nasionale Kommissaris van die SAPD, Luitenant-generaal Puleng Dimpane, het alle lede wat by die operasie betrokke was geprys vir hul vinnige en gekoördineerde reaksie.
“Hierdie arrestasie toon dat Suid-Afrika nie ‘n veilige hawe vir voortvlugtiges is nie. Enigiemand wat glo dat hulle geregtigheid kan ontduik deur na ons land te vlug, moet weet dat die SAPD onvermoeid met internasionale wetstoepassingsvennote sal saamwerk om hulle op te spoor en te arresteer,” het Dimpane gesê.
Die verdagte sal Maandag 13 Januarie 2026 in die hof verskyn.

UK fugitive arrested in SA
NATIONAL: The South African Police Service (SAPS) have arrested a man wanted in the United Kingdom for the murder of his wife and two daughters.

Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma was arrested in Kensington, Johannesburg on Friday, 10 July 2026 following an intensive operation involving the SAPS Interpol National Central Bureau, Crime Intelligence and the Organised Crime Investigation Unit.
According to SAPS Tshuma was wanted by authorities in the UK in connection with the murder of his wife, Nothabo Zandile Tshuma (42), and their two daughters, Natalie (15) and Nala (5), whose bodies were discovered at their home near Bedford.
Through swift operational coordination and intelligence-led policing, SAPS members successfully traced and arrested the fugitive.
The Acting National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, commended all members involved in the operation for their swift and coordinated response.
“This arrest demonstrates that South Africa is not a safe haven for fugitives. Anyone who believes they can evade justice by fleeing to our country should know that SAPS will work tirelessly with international law enforcement partners to trace, locate and arrest them,” said Dimpane.
The suspect will appear in court on Monday, 13 January 2026.

MISDAADTONEEL: Pelican Heights, Kaapstad: Die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) se Nasionale Intervensie-eenheid (NIE) het ‘n vrou en twee mans gearresteer vir die besit ‘n AK47-aanvalsgeweer en ammunisie.

Die NIE het Woensdag, 8 Julie 2026 om 19:50 gereageer op inligting oor vuurwapens wat in Pelican Heights naby Strandfontein verkoop gaan word.
Volgens die SAPD is ‘n operasie in werking gestel en ‘n voertuig is by Seagull-straat afgetrek en deursoek.
“Die polisie het ‘n AK 47 aanvalsgeweer sonder ‘n reeksnommer en ‘n boks met ‘n groot hoeveelheid ammunisie in ‘n Hyundai-voertuig gevind.
“Drie verdagtes, ‘n 27-jarige vrou en twee mans van 38 en 42-jaar-oud, is gearresteer vir die besit van ‘n verbode vuurwapen en die onwettige besit van ammunisie. Die saak sal deur die provinsiale speurders vir georganiseerde misdaad ondersoek word. Die verdagtes sal in die Muizenberg-landdroshof verskyn sodra hulle aangekla is,” sê die SAPD.

Police foil firearms deal
CRIME SCENE: Pelican Heights, Cape Town: The South African Police Service’s (SAPS) National Intervention Unit (NIU) have arrested a woman and two men when they were found with an AK47 assault rifle and a box of ammunition.

The NIU on Wednesday, 08 July 2026 at 19:50 responded to information that firearms are to be sold in Pelican Heights near Strandfontein.
According to SAPS an operation was put into place and the two vehicles were pulled over at Seagull Street and searched.
“They found an AK 47 without a serial number and a box with a large amount of ammunition in a Hyundai vehicle.
Three suspects including a 27-year-old female and two males aged 38 and 42-years were arrested for possession of a prohibited firearm and illegal possession of ammunition. The case will be investigated by the Provincial Detectives Organised Crime. The suspects are due to appear in the Muizenberg Magistrates court once charged.

MISDAADTONEEL: Knysna, Suid-Kaap: Die polisie het twee mans gearresteer vir ‘n dubbele moord wat vroeer in hierdie gewilde vakansiedorp gebeur het.

Volgens die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) is twee mans omstreeks 06:00 Maandag 6 Julie 2026 uit ‘n plakkershut naby Mbetanestraat, Khayalethu in Knysna, geforseer.
Die SAPD sê die twee is na Bongani in Knysna, geneem waar hulle aangerand is. Beide slagoffers, vcan 33 en 44-jaar-oud, het ernstige beserings opgedoen en is na die Knysna Provinsiale Hospitaal vervoer, waar albei later oorlede is.
Die verdagtes, 33 en 42-jaar-oud, is Donderdag, 9 Julie 2026 gearresteer en sal na verwagting Vrydag, 10 Julie 2026 hul eerste hofverskyning in die Knysna-landdroshof maak.
Die verdagtes staan elk tereg op twee aanklagte van moord en ontvoering. Die SAPD het gesê die ondersoek duur voort en nog verdagtes kan moontlik gearresteer word.
