Hoorn gets life for killing wife

FROM THE COURTS:  Duncan Hoorn from Hanover Park has been sentenced to life in prison for the kidnapping and murder of his wife and defeating the ends of justice.

The sentence, which was delivered in the Western Cape High court on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, followed after the accused was found guilty on 30 September 2026 for the death of his wife Chantal Pasquali.

Pasquali was assaulted and subsequently died in hospital due to the injuries she sustained during a domestic dispute with the accused.

The case was investigated by Captain Jerome Kleinbooi of the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation, Anti-Gang Unit, who started with an intensive investigation into the matter.

The Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lieutenant General Sizakhele Dyantyi, and the SAPS management welcomed the sentence and encouraged victims of domestic violence to come forward and speak out so that abusers can be brought before a court of law.
