Teen arrested for illegal gun
CRIME SCENE: Atlantis, Cape Town: A teenage suspect has been arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm by the South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Gang-Unit.

At around 22:50 on Sunday, 9 August 2026 the members arrested the 19-year-old along with a 36-year-old man in Zeeland Street, Atlantis.
The teenage suspect was apprehended for possession of an unlicensed firearm after the members searched his residence, and the older man for possession of ammunition following the discovery of 15 rounds of ammunition inside his house.
Observatory: Operation Shanela members followed up on information that they received on Monday, 10 August about a male staying in Wrensch Street, Observatory who was believed to be involved in gang-related activities.
According to SAPS Shanela members arrived at the residence at approximately 13:30. They searched the premises which led to the discovery of one bag of tik that weighed 830,41 grams.
A 54-year-old male suspect was apprehended for possession of drugs.
