30 June update
Residents urged to report all incidents
Bosses threatened over foreigners
The City of Cape Town’s Disaster Coordinating Team has received no reports of incidents linked to the June 30 shutdown.

However, the City said it had become aware of incidents where individuals have apparently threatened businesses that have foreign nationals in their employ.
“”Staff have been deployed across the metropole, to monitor for, and respond to any incidents linked to the threat of xenophobic violence. There are unconfirmed reports of two planned marches in the CBD – however, no gathering applications have been received, and no further information is available at this time. City agencies and SAPS are monitoring for any activity in the CBD.
“We encourage business owners or anyone threatened to please report these instances to the South African Police Service so that it can be investigated. The public is also reminded to please report any incidents or concerns to the City’s Public Emergency Communications Centre on 021 480 7700,” said the City.
