Gun stolen in KZN found in Mitchells Plain

CRIME SCENE: Mitchells Plain, Cape Town: A firearm reported stolen in 2025 at Mtubatuba SAPS, in KwaZulu-Natal, has been found in a shopping mall in Mitchells Plain.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) members of the Mitchells Plain police followed up on a complaint on Tuesday, 16 June 2026 at around 17:25 about a man with a firearm in a shopping mall.

The members went to the mall and approached the suspect. They searched him leading to the discovery of an unlicensed firearm in his possession. Further investigation revealed that this firearm was reported stolen in 2025 at Mtubatuba SAPS, in KwaZulu-Natal.

A 22-year-old man was arrested by Lentegeur SAPS.

Vahnrynsdorp: A man who was arrested for attempted murder had charges added after a prohibited firearm was discovered by Vanrhynsdorp SAPS members at his flat in Skool Street, on Monday, 15 June 2026.

This operation was intelligence driven and the suspect is expected to appear before Vanrhynsdorp Magistrate’s Court.
