Polisie op Kaapse Vlakte konfiskeer wapens
MISDAADTONEEL: Samora Machel, Kaapstad: Die polisie het die afgelope paar dae ‘n aantal onwettige vuurwapens van Kaapse Vlakte strate verwyder en verdagtes wat daarmee verbind word, gearresteer.

Op Dinsdag 19 Mei 2026 omstreeks 05:40 in Samora Machel is ‘n 42-jarige man gearresteer vir die besit van twee onwettige vuurwapens.
Volgens die polisie in die Wes-Kaapse media kantoor is die twee 9mm-pistole in sy huis gevind nadat die polisie inligting ontvang en opgevolg het.
Kraaifontein: Vroeër dieselfde oggend, omstreeks 03:00, het verskeie eenhede patrollies in Kraaifontein uitgevoer.
Die polisie sê hulle het intelligensie ontvang oor dwelmaktiwiteite by ‘n huis in die area. Hulle het vinnig gereageer en die plek deursoek, wat gelei het tot die ontdekking van ‘n .38 Special rewolwer en 13 rondtes ammunisie wat in die plafon versteek was.
‘n 31-jarige man is gearresteer vir die besit van ‘n onwettige vuurwapen en ammunisie.
Parkwood: Maandag, 18 Mei 2026 het ‘n gesamentlike operasie tussen die anti-bende-eenheid (AGU) en die inligting-span by ‘n huis in Moosa Walk, Parkwood, gelei tot die arrestasie van ‘n 40-jarige man op aanklagte van die besit van ‘n onwettige vuurwapen en ammunisie, wat in ‘n watermeter in die agterplaas versteek was.
Grassy Park: Sondag, 17 Mei 2026 ongeveer 23:45 het die Grassy Park-polisie inligting opgevolg oor ‘n vuurwapen by ‘n huis op die hoek van Merlin- en Buzzard-weg. Hulle het die woning deursoek en ‘n 9mm-pistool en 38 rondtes ammunisie gevind.
Verdere ondersoeke het aan die lig gebring die vuurwapen is as gesteel in Bishop Lavis aangemeld. ‘n 19-jarige vrou wat in die huis was, is gearresteer vir die besit van ‘n ongelisensieerde vuurwapen en ammunisie.

Several guns taken off Cape Flats streets
CRIME SCENE: Samora Machel, Cape Town: The police have taken a number of illegal firearms off Cape Flats streets and arrested suspects connected to these guns during crime combatting operations over the last few days.

On Tuesday, 19 May 2026 at approximately 05:40 in Samora Machel, a 42-year-old man was arrested for the possession of two prohibited firearms.
According to the police’s Western Cape media centre, the two 9mm pistols were found in his house after the police had received information acted on it.
Kraaifontein: Earlier the same morning, at around 03:00, the Anti Economic Crime Task Team in collaboration with the Counterfeit and Illicit Policing Team were conducting patrols in Kraaifontein.
The police said they received intelligence about drug activities taking place in a house in the area. They quickly responded and searched the place leading to the discovery of a .38 Special revolver and 13 rounds of ammunition hidden in the ceiling.
A 31-year-old man was arrested for possession of prohibited firearm and ammunition.
Parkwood: On Monday, 18 May 2026, a joint operation between the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) and the Information Team at a house in Moosa Walk, Parkwood resulted in the arrest of a 40-year-old man on charges of possession of prohibited a firearm and ammunition, which were hidden in a water meter in the back yard.

Grassy Park: On Sunday, 17 May 2026 at approximately 23:45, Grassy Park polie followed up on information about a firearm at a premises on the corner of Merlin and Buzzard Roads. They searched the residence leading to the discovery of a 9mm pistol and 38 rounds of ammunition.
Further investigations revealed that the firearm was reported stolen in Bishop Lavis. A 19-year-old female who was in the house during the search was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

MISDAADTONEEL: Lavender Hill, Kaapstad: ‘n Tienermeisie is Maandag, 18 Mei 2026 tydens ‘n skieteryt uit ‘n kar gewond.

Die Steenberg-polisie het omstreeks 16:10 op ‘n klagte van ‘n skietvoorval in St. Bonifacestraat gereageer.
Thembakazi Mpendukana, ‘n media skakelbeampte vir die Wes-Kaapse polisie, het gesê die 15-jarige vroulike slagoffer het na ‘n nabygeleë winkel geloop toe ‘n wit VW Polo verbygery en begin skiet het.
Die slagoffer is in haar rug gewond en hospitaal toe geneem. ‘n Saak van poging tot moord word ondersoek en geen arrestasies is nog gemaak nie.

CRIME SCENE: Lavender Hill, Cape Town: A teenage girl was shot and wounded during a drive-by shooting incident in here on Monday, 18n May 2026.

Steenberg police responded to a complaint regarding a shooting incident in St Boniface Street, at around 16:10.
Thembakazi Mpendukana, a media liaison officer for the Western Cape police, said the 15-year-old female victim was walking towards a nearby shop when a white VW Polo drove pass and started shooting.
The victim was wounded on her back and was taken to hospital. An attempted murder case is being investigated and no arrest has been made yet.

Konstabel Ndakhe Gwala, ‘n media skakelbeampte vir die Wes-Kaapse polisie, sê inligting dui daarop dat die 15-jarige slagoffer op ‘n reling in Blagden-straat gesit het toe ‘n wit Kia Picanto hom nader.
“Die insittendes van die voertuig het met 9 mm-pistole en ‘n haelgeweer op die slagoffer begin skiet. Hy het veelvuldige skietwonde opgedoen en is op die toneel dood. Die motief vir die skietery word ondersoek en geen arrestasie is nog gemaak nie,” het konstabel Ndakhe gesê.

Constable Ndakhe Gwala, a media liaison officer for Western Cape police, said reports indicate that the 15-year-old victim was sitting on a railing in Blagden Street, Retreat when a white Kia Picanto approached.
“The occupants of the vehicle started shooting at the victim with 9mm pistols and a shotgun. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and succumbed on the scene. The motive for the shooting is a subject of police investigation, and no arrest has been made yet,” said Constable Ndakhe.
Vermoor in Hillview
Jongman uit kar doodgeskiet
MISDAADTONEEL: Hillview, Kaapstad: ‘n Jongman is Maandagaand 18 Mei 2026 doodgeskiet terwyl hy in ‘n straat in Hillview geloop het.

‘n Mediaskakelbeampte van die Wes-Kaapse Polisie, sersant Wesley Twigg, het gesê die 24-jarige man is omstreeks 21:00 in Potbergweg geskiet.
“Toe die polisie op die toneel aankom het hulle die slagoffer met skietwonde aan sy liggaam gevind. Volgens inligting het die slagoffer in die pad geloop toe ‘n wit voertuig langs hom stilhou en een van die insittendes op hom losbrand met ‘n vuurwapen. Die voertuig het daarna vanaf die toneel gevlug.
“Die motief vir die aanval is vermoedelik bendeverwant. Die Muizenberg-polisie ondersoek ‘n saak van moord,” het Twigg gesê.

Young man shot in Hillview
A walk in the road leads to death
CRIME SCENE: Hillview, Cape Town: A young man was shot and killed while walking in a street here on Monday night, 18 May 2026.

A Western Cape Police media liaison officer, Sergeant Wesley Twigg, said the 24-year-old man was shot at about 21:00, in Potberg Road.
“Police members attended to the crime scene where they found the victim with gunshot wounds to his body. According to reports the victim was walking in the road when a white vehicle stopped next to him and one of the occupants opened fire on the victim before fleeing the scene.
“The motive for the attack is believed to be gang related. Muizenberg police is investigating a case of murder,” said Twigg.
