Operation forms part of probe into former City contractor

Cops raid COCT office, several residences

CAPE TOWN: The South African Police Service Commercial Crime Investigation Unit conducted further search and seizure operations this morning, Thursday 4 June 2026, as part of an ongoing investigation involving a former contractor of the City of Cape Town, Triple C Maintenance and Services.

“Acting on search and seizure warrants, investigators executed operations at multiple residential properties as well as a City of Cape Town office. During the operation, 21 cellular telephones and nine laptops were seized for forensic investigation, together with other potential evidential material relevant to the case.

“As the investigation remains active, SAPS will not comment further on specific evidential aspects of the matter at this stage. No arrests were made during today’s operations. Further action will be guided by the evidence gathered and the outcome of ongoing investigations,” SAPS said in a statement.

MISDAADTONEEL: Browns Farm, Kaapstad: Die polisie het vandeesweek week twee vermeende afpersers gearresteer en terselfdertyd onwettige vuurwapens gekonfiskeer.

Lede van Operasie Lockdown 3 het Donderdag, 4 Junie 2026, omstreeks 01:00 na ‘n huis in Browns Farm gegaan nadat hulle inligting ontvang het oor ‘n vermeende afperser.

Met hulle aankoms by die huis in Kamela-straat het hulle die verdagte daar gekry. Die polisie het die huis deursoek en op ‘n haelgeweer, toegedraai in plastiek, onder die verdagte se bed afgekom.

Die 41-jarige man is gearresteer vir die besit van ‘n ongelisensieerde vuurwapen en ammunisie.

Marikana informele nedersetting: Die dag tevore, Woensdag 3 Junie 2026, is ‘n 35-jarige man, wat deur misdaad-intelligensie uitgewys is vir beweerde betrokkenheid by afpersing, by sy huis in Marikana gearresteer.

Sy huis is omstreeks 23:00 deursoek en die polisie het ‘n 9 mm-pistool en nege rondtes ammunisie gevind.

Tafelsig: Die openbare orde-eenheid het Woensdag, 3 Junie 2026 ‘n 35-jarige man in Tierkloof-straat, Tafelsig, gearresteer vir die besit van dwelms. Die arrestasie het gekom toe die polisie in die gebied gepatrolleer en ‘n wenk oor dwelms by ‘n huis in die buurt ontvang het. Hulle het die huis deursoek en 20 sakkies kokaïen, sewe plastieksakke en ses rolle dagga gevind.

Police arrest suspected extortionists

CRIME SCENE: Browns Farm, Cape Town: The police this week arrested two suspects in their ongoing fight to root out extortion.

Members of Operation Lockdown 3 received information about an alleged extortionist who resides in Browns Farm. On Thursday, 4 June 2026, at about 01:00, they went to the suspect’s home at Kamela Street, where they found him. During a search, police recovered a shotgun under the suspect’s bed, wrapped in plastic.

The 41-year-old man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Marikana informal settlement: The day before, Wednesday 3 June 2026, a 35-year-old male suspect, identified by Crime Intelligence for his alleged involvement in extortion, was arrested at his home in the informal settlement.

While conducting a search at his home at around 23:00, the police recovered a 9mm pistol and nine rounds of ammunition.

Tafelsig: The Public Order police arrested a 35-year-old male suspect for possession of drugs at Tierkloof Street, Tafelsig, on Wednesday, 3 June 2026. While patrolling in the area they received a tip-off about drugs at a house in the neighbourhood. They searched the house and found 20 sachets of cocaine and seven plastic bags and six rolls of dagga.

Franschhoek-polisie het Donderdag ,4 Junie 2026 reageer op ‘n skietery by die Langreg-plakkerskamp. Toe hulle by die toneel aankom, het hulle die liggaam van ‘n 35-jarige man agter ‘n toilet met veelvuldige skietwonde aan sy lyf aangetref, het ‘n polisie-mediaskakelbeampte vir die Wes-Kaap, konstabel Ndakhe Gwala, gesê.

Hy is op die toneel dood verklaar en geen arrestasie is nog gemaak nie.

Franschhoek police responded to reports of a shooting at Langreg squatter camp and when they arrived at the scene they found the body of a 35-year-old man behind a toilet with multiple gunshot wounds on his body, said a police media liaison officer for the Western Cape, Constable Ndakhe Gwala.  

He was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel and no arrest has been made yet.

Volgens ‘n polisie media skakelbeampte vir die Wes-Kaap, konstabel Ndakhe Gwala, het die Bishop Lavis-polisie twee aanklagte van moord geregistreer na ‘n skietvoorval in Hilderstraat, Valhala Park op Woensdag 3 Junie 2026.

“Die polisie het omstreeks 20:40 ‘n klag van ‘n skietery ontvang en met hul aankoms het hulle die liggame van twee mans van 22 en 24-jaar-oud in ‘n slaapkamer aangetref.

“Hulle het veelvuldige skietwonde opgedoen en is op die dood verklaar. Die motief vir die aanval word ondersoek en geen arrestasies is nog gemaak nie,” het Gwala gesê.

Two men gunned down in bedroom

CRIME SCENE: Valhalla Park, Cape Town: Two young men have been shot and killed inside a bedroom.

According to a police media liaison officer for the Western Cape, Constable Ndakhe Gwala, Bishop Lavis police registered two counts of murder following a shooting incident in Hilder Street, Valhala Park on Wednesday 3 June 2026.

“The police received a complaint of a shooting at about 20:40 and upon arrival they found the bodies of two males aged 22 and 24-years-old inside a bedroom.

“They had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were declared dead on the. The motive for the attack is a subject of police investigation, and no arrest has been made yet,” said Gwala.

Die groot koppe van die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD) het mense wat “agter sosiale mediaplatforms, anonieme boodskap-groepe of gemeenskapsvergaderings wegkruip om geweld aan te hits”, gewaarsku om hul doen en late te stop of daar sal gevolge wees.

Die waarnemende Nasionale Kommissaris van die Suid-Afrikaanse Polisiediens (SAPD), luitenant-generaal Puleng Dimpane, het Woensdag 3 Junie 2026 saam met die voorsitter van die Nasionale Gesamentlike Operasionele en Intelligensiestruktuur (NATJOINTS), luitenant-generaal Tebello Mosikili, ‘n mediakonferensie in George, Wes-Kaap gehou oor  geweld in die land.

Die afvaardiging is vergesel deur die Provinsiale Kommissaris van die Wes-Kaap, luitenant-generaal Thembisile Patekile, en die waarnemende Adjunk-Nasionale Kommissaris vir Misdaadopsporing, luitenant-generaal Khosi Senthumule.

Die afvaardiging het intervensies uiteengesit om wet en orde te herstel en te handhaaf, sowel as maatreëls wat daarop gemik is om die veiligheid en sekuriteit van alle inwoners regoor die land te verseker

NATJOINTS het ‘n omvattende operasionele plan geaktiveer wat die SAPD, staatsveiligheidsagentskap, metropolisiedepartemente, verkeerswetstoepassing, binnelandse sake, korrektiewe dienste, die Suid-Afrikaanse Nasionale Weermag en ander regeringsdepartemente insluit.

Die operasionele plan het drie sleutel bene:

● Meer sigbaarheid en vinnige ontplooiingsvermoëns: Wetstoepassingsbeamptes is in brandpunte en strategiese gebiede regoor die land ontplooi. Bykomende openbare orde-polisiëringsbronne bly op bystand om vinnig te reageer op enige voorvalle wat openbare veiligheid en stabiliteit bedreig.

● Intelligensie-begeleide operasies: Intelligensiestrukture versamel en ontleed voortdurend inligting om bedreigings te identifiseer, beplande geweldsdade op te spoor en proaktiewe intervensies te ondersteun voordat die misdaad gepleeg word. Diegene wat glo hulle agter sosiale media platforms, anonieme boodskap-groepe of gemeenskap vergaderings kan wegkruip om geweld aan te hits, moet weet dat wetstoepassingsagentskappe aktief kriminele gedrag monitor en op sal tree as daar genoegsame bewyse is.

● Geteikende operasies teen misdaad: Gesamentlike operasies word uitgevoer om kriminaliteit aan te spreek wat onder die dekmantel van gemeenskapsveiligheid gepleeg word. Dit sluit in operasies om gesoekte verdagtes te arresteer, onwettige vuurwapens te konfiskeer, dwelmsmokkelary in die hok te slaan, afpersing netwerke te ontwrig en onwettige persone deur middel van wettige immigrasie prosesse te hanteer.

‘Full might of law will come for you’

The top brass of the South African Police Service (SAPS) have warned those who believe they can “hide behind social media platforms, anonymous messaging groups or community meetings to incite violence”, they will face the full might of the law.

The Acting National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), Lieutenant- General Puleng Dimpane, together with the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NATJOINTS) Chairperson, Lieutenant-General Tebello Mosikili, briefed the media in George, Western Cape on Wednesday, 3 June 2026 following violence aimed at foreigners over past weekend.

The delegation was joined by the Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lieutenant-General Thembisile Patekile, and the Acting Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection, Lieutenant-General Khosi Senthumule.

The delegattion outlined interventions to restore and maintain law and order, as well as measures aimed at ensuring the safety and security of all residents across the country.

NATJOINTS has activated a comprehensive operational plan that brings together the South African Police Service, State Security Agency, Metro Police Departments, Traffic Law Enforcement, Home Affairs, Correctional Services, the South African National Defence Force and other key government stakeholders.

The operational plan focuses on key areas:

●Enhanced visibility and rapid deployment capabilities: Law enforcement officers have been deployed in identified hotspots and strategic areas across the country. Additional public order policing resources remain on standby to respond swiftly to any incidents that threaten public safety and stability.

●Secondly, intelligence-led operations: Intelligence structures are continuously gathering and analysing information to identify threats, detect planned acts of violence and support proactive interventions before criminal incidents occur. Those who believe they can hide behind social media platforms, anonymous messaging groups or community meetings to incite violence should know that law enforcement agencies are actively monitoring criminal conduct and will act where evidence exists.

●Targeted crime-combatting operations: Joint operations are being conducted to address criminality that may arise under the guise of community concerns. These include operations aimed at arresting wanted suspects, confiscating illegal firearms, addressing drug trafficking, disrupting extortion networks and dealing with undocumented persons through lawful immigration processes.
