Police arrest suspected extortionists
CRIME SCENE: Browns Farm, Cape Town: The police this week arrested two suspects in their ongoing fight to root out extortion.

Members of Operation Lockdown 3 received information about an alleged extortionist who resides in Browns Farm. On Thursday, 4 June 2026, at about 01:00, they went to the suspect’s home at Kamela Street, where they found him. During a search, police recovered a shotgun under the suspect’s bed, wrapped in plastic.
The 41-year-old man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Marikana informal settlement: The day before, Wednesday 3 June 2026, a 35-year-old male suspect, identified by Crime Intelligence for his alleged involvement in extortion, was arrested at his home in the informal settlement.
While conducting a search at his home at around 23:00, the police recovered a 9mm pistol and nine rounds of ammunition.
Tafelsig: The Public Order police arrested a 35-year-old male suspect for possession of drugs at Tierkloof Street, Tafelsig, on Wednesday, 3 June 2026. While patrolling in the area they received a tip-off about drugs at a house in the neighbourhood. They searched the house and found 20 sachets of cocaine and seven plastic bags and six rolls of dagga.
